  3. A “Complete Work” to Complete the Work 2 Timothy 4:6-8 “For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 5. A Complete Work to Complete the Work “I do not expect to live long. My work is nearly done. Tell our young people that I want my words to encourage them in that manner of life that will be most attractive to the heavenly intelligences, and that their influence upon others may be most ennobling.” {Ye Shall Receive Power, 250} Towards the close of Ellen White’s ministry.

  6. What Kind of Work could this be? Not the work that I chose to do Not the work others do and are doing Not the work people have given me But the work God has given us.

  7. What Kind of Work could this be? Matt 9:35 “And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.” Jesus’ ministry

  8. What Kind of Work could this be? Matthew 10:7, 8 “And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” Jesus’ commission to His disciples

  9. What Kind of Work could this be? “It is the divine plan that we shall work as the disciples worked. Physical healing is bound up with the gospel commission. In the work of the gospel, teaching and healing are never to be separated.”—(The Ministry of Healing, p. 141). The Divine Blueprint

  10. What Kind of Work could this be? 1 Corinthians 3:10, 11 “According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” The Divine Blueprint

  11. What Kind of Work could this be? 1 Cor 3:13 “…and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is.”1 Cor 3:16, 17 “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?Ifany man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” The Divine Blueprint

  12. What Kind of Work could this be? 1 Corinthians 3:18 “Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.” The Divine Blueprint

  13. The Foundation of the Gospel Ministry? Revelation 21:14 “And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.” Is the Foundation of the very city of God Jesus’ commission to His disciples

  14. In the Last Days Isaiah 58:12 And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of the breach, The restorer of paths to dwell in. God’s people in the last days

  15. In the Last Days Isaiah 58:13 “If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Who will do this Great Work? Jesus’ commission to His disciples

  16. True Sabbath-Keepers Isaiah 58 defines true Sabbath-keeping. Often we use this passage to show how God’s people will keep the Sabbath but have we paid attention to see if we are keeping it as Jesus would. Let us observe the warnings.

  17. Written for the Church Isaiah 58:1 Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shewmy people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. Let us observe the warnings.

  18. The Issues on God’s Heart Verse 2-5Lifeless prayer (it has the form of righteousness)Feeble Faith (a fast that has no effect)Formal Christian Experience (formalism, v.5) Let us observe the warnings.

  19. Lessons What are the lessons in the closing verse of Isaiah 58? The seventh-day Sabbath is a memorial of Creation. It is a sign between God and His people. It is a sign of sanctification. Ezekiel 20:20. By the Sabbath God’s people are distinguished from all other people. Because like Him they have one common purpose. Let us observe the warnings.

  20. Lessons They are concerned with human need to the degree that the whole life is dedicated to the service of God and humanity. Their professions, their business, whatever it may be, is secondary to the one great purpose seeking to save the lost. Manifestation of the one common purpose

  21. Lessons True Sabbath-keeping is not merely the cessation from the pursuit of business and physical labour every seventh-day. True Sabbath-keeping is synonymous with a Christ-like character and is revealed every week in thought, word and deed – this is the teaching of Isaiah 58. Let us observe the warnings.

  22. Lessons This medical missionary chapter highlights the hollowness of formal religious Sabbath worship – the spiritual emptiness that results from a life fully absorbed in the daily pursuit of satisfying self – with the consequent lack of vital contact with the living God. Let us observe the warnings.

  23. Where do we stand? The fifty-eighth chapter of Isaiah contains present truth for the people of God. Here we see how medical missionary work and the gospel ministry are to be bound together as the message is given to the world. Upon those who keep the Sabbath of the Lord is laid the responsibility of doing a work of mercy and benevolence. Medical missionary work is to be bound up with the message, and sealed with the seal of God. (Evangelism 516.4) Let us observe the warnings.

  24. What is medical missionary work? I wish to tell you that soon there will be no work done in ministerial lines but medical missionary work. The work of a minister is to minister. Our ministers are to work on the gospel plan of ministering. . . . You will never be ministers after the gospel ordertill you show a decided interest in medical missionary work, the gospel of healing and blessing and strengthening. (Counsels on Health 533.1) Let us observe the warnings.

  25. Genuine? We do not deserve to be called repairers of the breach and restorers of the path to dwell in by merely keeping the Sabbath. The teaching of Isaiah 58 and Jesus’ example when He walked on earth demonstratesthat the principles of the entire chapter must be accepted. Genuine repairers and restorers follow the footsteps of the Great Medical Missionary Jesus Christ and fulfill a complete ministry that addresses the physical, mental and spiritual needs of humanity. Let us observe the warnings.

  26. God’s Ministers Let our ministers, who have gained an experience in preaching the word, learn how to give simple treatments, and then labor intelligently as medical missionary evangelists. –(Testimonies, vol. 9, p. 172.) {ChS 134.1} Let us observe the warnings.

  27. God’s Ministers “The way in which Christ worked was to preach the word, and to relieve suffering by miraculous works of healing. But I am instructed that we cannot now work in this way; for Satan will exercise his power by working miracles. God's servants today could not work by means of miracles, because spurious works of healing, claiming to be divine, will be wrought.” {Medical Ministry, 14.2} Let us observe the warnings.

  28. God’s Ministers For this reason the Lord has marked out a way in which His people are to carry forward a work of physical healing combined with the teaching of the word. Sanitariums are to be established, and with these institutions are to be connected workers who will carry forward genuine medical missionary work. Thus a guarding influence is thrown around those who come to the sanitariums for treatment. {Medical Missionary 14.3} Let us observe the warnings.
