  1. e-Silkroad2004 FEBRUARY CONVENTION PLAN 2004.2.5 (c)TRI-B

  2. Introduction The e-Silkroad concept envisions innovative, creative model IT cities in the21st century by connecting Asian cities where the IT revolution rapidly progresses, and by collaborating through IT-centered business and cultural exchanges. We named the aforementioned exchanges and collaboration "e-Silkroad" after the ancient Silk Road, a network of roads for commerce connecting Asia and Europe, which changed history and brought about social development as it carried people, goods and information. To actualize this e-Silkroad concept, the e-Silkroad in Sapporo Executive Committee was organized in 2001, with IT-related business people in Sapporo and South Korea as a leading part. "e-Silkroad in Sapporo" convention was held to "build e-Silkroad in Asia", "reinforce the collaboration of IT companies in Asia" and to "create networks of people who play a central role in the Asian IT industry." It drew Asian IT-related business people to Sapporo. In 2002, We had "Sapporo Innovation City Seminar", which ensured us the steady growth of e-Silkroad concept, then e-Silkroad in Shenzhen was held in Shenzhen, China. Sapporo's IT industry was somewhat lacking in a global view and international business partnership, but the achievement mentioned above was significant, in a sense that it suggested a broader perspective for business in Asian scale and it drove them to the collaboration with Asian countries. Some new partnerships have in fact already been created among companies. And now e-Silkroad is going on to the next stage. We need bring on a dynamism of new Asian society and economy, by connecting the regions in which IT industry is invigorating, by establishing a technical, capital and human liaison among them and forming a "global region." We appreciate your kind support and cooperation for achieving this goal. 2 (c)TRI-B
