Current Status of Panel Recommendations • Recommendations have been grouped topically • Numbers of recommendations on slide correspond to narrative document • This slide presentation is a high level overview of the current status • Recommendations related to Child Location/Missing Children to be addressed by Laurie Blades

  3. Child Safety: Contact with Children • Recommendations 3, 13 • High priority performance measure • At least every 30 days requirement • Reporting and tracking capacity in former and current computer system • Emphasis on qualitative aspects of contact for Release 2, Florida Safe Families Network

  4. Assessing and Supporting Foster Parents, Relative/Non-Relative Caregivers • Recommendations 5, 6, 14, 27, 29, 30, 47 • Practice gaps in screening and assessment • Substantive legislation and administrative code effective in 2006 • Currently working with Joint Administrative Procedures Commission on licensing rule revisions • Quality home study process – opportunity for improvement

Quality Assurance: Transforming Policy to Practice • Recommendations 11, 19, 22, 28, 31, 32, 39 • Accreditation of CBCs • 2006 administrative rules revisions • Family team conferencing practice gaps • Performance measures – continuous improvement efforts • IV-E waiver provides funding flexibility • Quality assurance system redesign

  6. Representation of Children: Guardian Ad Litem • Recommendations 7, 9 • As of June 30, 2007, Of 40,787 children under court ordered supervision, 32,065 children have Guardians Ad Litem appointed (78.61%)

  7. Technology Enhancements • Recommendations 8, 18, 24 • Continuous improvement efforts – laptops, cameras, etc. • Florida Safe Families Network • Release 1 – live July 30, 2007 • Release 2 – formal design sessions begin August 20
