  1. English 10 - 1/3/11 • Write about the best and the worst of your break. • If Mr. and Mrs. Bigger had a baby, who would be the biggest of the three? • Canorous – sweet sounding. Goals - Discuss future goals for this class and life. Homework –Finish any daily work from 12/6-10; I’ll be checking tomorrow. Don’t forget to study for Quiz # 16.

  2. English 10 - 1/4/11 • What do you remember about a good hook? How do you know when you have one? Give examples. • What has four legs and one arm? • Tittle – a particle; and iota. Goals - Check daily work, 12/6-10. Re-examine “hooks.” Evaluate your own hook and that of a partner. Rewrite your hook. Homework – Complete your hook revision and print out a copy. Also bring a printed copy of your hook for comparison. I will be assigning points in class.

How can you keep the reader interested until the end and then feel satisfied? • What is bright orange and sounds like a parrot? • Cachinnation - excessive laughter. Goals - Continue to check daily work, 12/6-10. vote on hooks and give feedback. Work on endings for your essays. Homework – Revise the ending of your essay. Attach it to your hooks homework. I will be assigning points in class.

  4. English 10 - 1/6/11 • How does a writer make a story more interesting? • What do you call a Norwegian car? • Piff – something insignificant, a trifle. Goals - Finish daily work check, 12/6-10. Look at closings. Discuss body of essay. Consult and get feedback about your essay’s body. Homework – Complete your revision of the body. Submit final copy tomorrow with original copy. Don’t forget to study for vocabulary quiz #17.

  5. English 10 - 1/7/11 • Five minutes to study for Vocabulary #17. • Why do birds fly south for the winter? • Noil – a knot of small hair or fiber. Goals - Complete check daily work, 12/6-10. Begin brainstorm of how to use the information you are collecting for the CBA. Homework – Finish your smart chart before Monday. I will be assigning points in class.
