  13. Literary Elements and Devices • Elements of Plot- Exposition, setting, conflict, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution. • Point of View- the voice telling the story (1st person, 3rd person) • Cliffhanger- a device used at the end of a chapter which leaves you in suspense.

  14. Foreshadowing- hints or clues that an author provides to suggest later events in the story. • Symbolism- an object, person, or place that represents an idea or set of ideas.

  15. Symbol Assignment • Write a paragraph for your character. Your symbol should be included in the paragraph and you should use figurative language (simile, metaphor, personification) in your paragraph. The final copy should be typed and your symbol should be either hand drawn or clip art.
