  1. COMPLICATIONS ASSOCIATED WITH BREAST AUGMENTATION SURGERY

  2. Complications Associated with Breast Augmentation Surgery • Breast Augmentation in the UK is a type of surgery, in medical terms, called Augmentation Mammoplasty. It is an operation that involves the placement of breast implants to improve the breasts' form, size or fullness. The majority of implants comprise synthetic silicone rubber shells that are filled with silicone gel or a saline solution. • In other words, breast augmentation is a procedure that includes placing breast implants beneath your breast tissue or chest muscles to increase the size of your breasts. Because there are many different types of implants, your surgeon will recommend the one that is most suited for you. Breast implants usually have a lifespan of about 10 years.

  3. What is the Procedure of Breast Augmentation? • The procedure of breast augmentation in the UK involves a few steps.  • Initially, regions that need to be augmented are marked by a surgeon. Then according to your preference, the position of the incisions is determined. After this, general anaesthesia is given to make you unconscious during the surgery.  • By making cuts on the marked areas, the implant will be placed underneath the breast. Once the proper positioning of implants is done, surgeons will close the cuts either through surgical tapes or sutures.

  4. Complications Associated with Breast Augmentation. • One of the most common complications associated with breast augmentation is capsular contracture. This occurs when the scar tissue that forms around the implant tightens and squeezes the implant, causing it to become hard. Symptoms of capsular contracture include pain, swelling and a distortion or change in the appearance of the breasts. In some cases , the implant may even rupture. • Another common complication is breast implant displacement. This occurs when the implant moves out of position, either upward, downward, forward, or backward. It can cause the breasts to look asymmetrical or unnatural. • Some women also experience breast pain after breast augmentation surgery. This may be due to the implants themselves, the surgery, or post-operative swelling.

  5. Complications Associated with Breast Augmentation. • Lastly, there is always a risk of infection associated with any surgical procedure. While the risk of infection is small, it is something to be aware of if you are considering breast augmentation. • As you can see, there are several potential complications associated with breast augmentation surgery. It is important to discuss these risks with your surgeon before making a decision. If you are still uncomfortable with the risks, you may want to consider other options, such as breast implants or breast augmentation with fat transfer.
