  4. PSOA 2013 Payments • Recreation 1 Umpire ($35) • Recreation 2 Umpire ($30-$35) • Select Baseball 1 Umpires ($47) • Select Baseball 2 Umpires ($42) • MABL/Reserve Baseball ($47) (Keystone and Papillion Games paid through PSOA once every two weeks.)

  5. Education Clinics • Week 1-2 Plate Mechanics • Will use high school practices to get umpires behind live pitching. Will get umpires on camera. • Week 2-3 Base Mechanics/Plate Cont. • Will use high school outdoor practices/inter squad scrimmages to work on base work and live plate mechanics. Again will use camera to film umpires work. • Week 3 and Week 4 Rules Meetings • Will break down rule by rule. This is good review for experienced umpires and great tool for new umpires. • All Meetings will be put on arbiter to accept or decline once plans are finalized with practices and room availability.

  7. PSOA Expectations • Be professional • Dress • Communication • Handling Situations • Reliable and Responsible • Arrive on Site 30-15 minute before first pitch • Have plate meeting 5 minutes before the game. • Learn each game. • Work hard for players, coaches, and spectators.

  9. Schedule Changes • All schedule changes please e-mail myself at st_rita1920@yahoo.com • Any changes day of game please contact me and umpires. • I currently work on field as well. Better to be safe than sorry. • Please double check all schedules on arbiter each week and each time you get game reminder 2 days before a game.

  10. Tournaments • If you would like a crew chief present it is $10 per time slot. (PSOA pays other $10) • Strongly recommend a crew chief for 4 fields or more. • There to answer rule questions • There to observe, evaluate and improve umpires. • Extra umpire in case of no show, illness, late arrival, extra inning game, etc….. • Sooner I get the schedule sooner I can lock in best quality umpires. • Any special rules for tournaments please send to me so I can get on our website.

  11. Handling Situations on the Field • All parties are learning the game. • When going out to the calling umpire have a good why. • Get a explanation • Get a rule question answered • See if they can get help on the play. • Umpires are trained to talk to coaches not to engage in arguments. • If umpire gives a stop sign or walks away agree to let go move on. • If it is a situation you need to report please do. On the field is not going to end well for anyone.

(E-Mail preferred) • Game details (Date, time, location, teams) • Play situation details • Specifics of before, during, and after. • I communicate with all parties before making any decisions or final judgments. • Main purpose for game reports is to educate and improve not to discipline or black ball anyone.
