  2. Female and Male Sea Turtles Female turtles return to land and lay eggs every two or so years. Male turtles stay in the water for their lives.

  3. Diet • The sea turtles eat jellies and as an adult they eat sea grasses and algae. • Sea turtles that are kept in an aquarium are fed lettuce, gel foods and different minerals. • Green sea turtles have a beak and their teeth are sharp to be able to tear through grasses.

  4. Did you know? • Green sea turtles help maintain the health of coral reefs. • They help keep the coral from over growing. • Green sea turtles are reptiles that ancestors used to live on land but migrated to water 150 million years ago. • Green sea turtles are the largest turtles in the world. • Their life span is 70-80 years. • They are named Green Turtles because of the color of their fat underneath their shells.

  5. Healthy Habitat A green turtle has to have a clean habitat. The coral and other objects should be left in the ocean so it doesn’t damage the natural habitat. All trash should be picked up from the ocean. The turtles are usually found closer to shore and in shallow water. Turtles should have a clear pathway to swim around in their habitat. Annoying the turtles can lead to stress or injury.
