What is an internship? • Gives an insight into the working of the real organizations. • Gaining deeper understanding in specific functional areas • Helps in exploring career opportunities in your area of interest. • Purpose of an internship is to provide you with a learning experience while you are in college to help you make more informed decisions about your future career.

  3. Industry Internship • Tenure : 8 weeks. • Date: 15th June’12 • Internship report is an individual task and student has to submit a report individually.

  4. Finding an Internship • Contact companies directly. • Small/mid-sized call directly • Large co. look on website • Utilize internship listings with SMG. • Try to use personal contacts. • Explore opportunities in newspapers and magazines.

  5. Before applying to an Internship • Make sure your resume is the best it can possibly be! Resume reviews – through Ex com faculty & SMG. • Collect the bona fide certificate from the SAC Team – class representative to co-ordinate. • Write a cover letter to send with resume • Polish your interview skills. Know how to talk about yourself and the information on your resume.

  6. Area of internship • Decide where you want to intern geographically. • Stream: • Human resource • Finance • Marketing

  7. Misconceptions about internship • Not a holiday period • Not a time to relax at home • Not to search report at places like ber-sarai…… • Do not copy any material. Be original.

  8. Report submission post internship • Report should have both secondary and primary data. • Should be properly typed on white bond paper • Adhere to the format of report writing for your batch. • Should have a completion certificate from the company which should be on the company’s letter head duly signed by the concerned authority.

Report structure • Title page • Completion certificate from the company / organization • Acknowledgements • Table of contents ( WITH PAGE NUMBERS ) • Executive summary • Introduction • Research objectives and methodology • Body of the report • Sector overview • Company details • Primary findings and analysis • An assessment of the internship • Conclusion & Recommendations • Illustrations & Annexure • Bibliography

  10. Report submission post internship • Stick to the deadlines of report submission • Don’t come with all kinds of excuses • Late submission of report will attract penalty.
