  3. Samborzec isin Świętokrzyskie province, thesouth – east of Poland, inthe Samborzec commune. Thevillageis 156 kilometers ( 2 hours and 20 minutes by car) fromthe city of Samborzec and about 10 km (10 minutes by car) from Sandomierz.

  4. Thevillage of Samborzec islocated on the edge of Sandomierz Upland, initsnorthwestern part, on theborder os Sandomierz Baisn, near theriver Vistula.

  5. In the Samborzec communethereareover 9 thousandcitizens. Thereareover 70 villages, and 3 Roman Catholicchurchesin Samborzec, Chobrzany and Skotniki.

  6. First settlementsinthisareaappearedaround 4 – 7 thousandyears ago. Thefounder of Samborzec was a knightcalled Sambor. He foundedthisvillagein 13th century.

  8. AntoniRewera: Father AntoniRewera was born in Samborzec in 1869 (6 I). He was the parish priest in St. Joseph parish in Sandomierz and the professor in the local seminary. During the II World War arrested by the German police (Gestapo), died in the concentration camp in Dachau (Germany) on the 1 X 1942. Proclaimed blessed by the Pope John Paul II in 1999.

  9. WładysławMiegoń: Father WładysławMiegoń was also born in Samborzec in 1892. He was A.Rewera’s nephew. He worked as a chaplain and the commodore in the Polish Naval Forces. During the II World War he voluntarily joined his fellow officers arrested by the Germans and was transported with them to the Dachau concentration camp. Tortured and tormented to death on the15 X. Beatified by the Pope John Paul II on the 13 VI 1999.

  11. The Holy TrinityChurchin Samborzec The Holy TrinityChurchin Samborzec was builtinthe XIII century. It is the largest monument in Samborzec. In thechurchthereis an altar of the Holy Trinity. Nearthechurch it is the parish cemetery.

  12. St John theBaptistChurchin Skotniki Skotniki parish was mentionedindocumentsdatingfrom 1323r. as the property Bogoriów Skotnicki . The first stonechurch was foundedin 1347r. by Jarosław Bogoria - Archbishop of Gniezno. Theconsecration of thechurchtakes place in 1370r. The first major renovation was carried out inthe 2nd half of theeighteenthcentury, whenit was builtporch and twostorey atrium of thevestry.

  13. St John theEvangelistChurchin Chobrzany Atthebeginning of thenineteenthcenturyin order to build a newchurch was built. Thefounder of thenewchurch was Jan Brzeski. In 1864. thetemple was burned. Thepresentchurch was builtintheyears 1870-1872. The first churchin Chobrzany was builtinthefourteenthcentury, founded by John Cave (bp. Kraków). It was a woodenchurch and inthelateeighteenthcentury was already much ruined.

  14. Mansion house in Skotniki This mansion house is located in Skotniki.It was originallybuiltinthe XIII century by the Bogoria Skotnicki family and was rebuiltthrougoutthecenturies. Nowadaysitstillbelongs to thesme Skotnicki familyalthoughnobodylivesinit. Thefamilylivesin Warsaw.

  15. Chapelin Samborzec It is a small chapel near the church in Samborzec. Builtin 1956. Itislocated on a hillbelowthechurch.

  17. The Festival of the Blossoming Apple-Trees The Festival of the Blossoming Apple-Trees takes place annualy, on the second Sunday of May. The celebration begins with the holy mass in the local church. After that all the participants walk to the square near the community office where they can celebrate and enjoy the time in the atmosphere of the family picnic. Pupils from the local schools as well as invited pop bands perform on stage.
