  1. Welcome to Third Grade! The third grade teachers at Timbers We are looking forward to a fantastic third grade year! • Mona Malinowski • Kim Fink • Grace Leeds • Susan Vento • Amy Rynearson

  2. All About Arrival • Breakfast: Report to the cafeteria beginning at 7:30 • Other students will report directly to the third grade hallway • Tardy at 8:05 ~Please be on time!

  3. Hooray for the Howl! Important school procedures and helpful parent information are detailed in the E-Howl newsletter. Check Timbers website for details or sign up tonight in the cafeteria. It is best to keep informed!

  4. Hit a Home Run with Homework! • Homework is assigned Monday - Thursday. • This typically includes: -Reading for 15 minutes (record in student planner) -Math -Spelling

  5. Don’t Strike Out • Missing homework results in missing recess.

  6. Dismissal • Please specify how your child goes home before you leave tonight! • A parent note is required if your child will be going home a different way than what is listed on the dismissal form. • If an emergency arises, you must call the office before 2:45. No changes may be made after that time.

  7. Wonderful Words Their Way The weekly spelling homework format will be posted in their spelling notebook. We will continue to use the Words Their Way curriculum.

  8. Math as Easy as 1, 2, 3 • Humble ISD supports Math Investigations. • The third grade team will host a parent session to share our experiences and insight.

  9. Tuesday Folders Tuesday folders go home each week, containing a conduct sheet, graded assignments and important school info. Please review, sign, and return on Wednesday.

  10. Snack Attack Examples of some healthy snacks include but are not limited to: -goldfish, pretzels, dry cereal, cut up fruit/ vegetables, granola bars, crackers, etc. -A water bottle is fine; no other beverages.

  11. Lunch • Students can order up to two (2) vegetables and two (2) fruits per lunch visit. • An extra portion will be charged the Ala-Carte price for each item purchased. • Please see price list on district website under Child Nutrition Services web page. Then click on parents tab, click on Price List, and click on Elementary Price list.

  12. Timbers Wolf Pact • We will be respectful. • We will be responsible. • We will be safe.

  13. Positive Behavior Our school and the third grade team has developed a system of rewards to encourage positive behaviors: • Classroom Rewards • Hallway tickets that reinforce school expectations • Individual student rewards through signature cards ~Students can shop at the signature store!~ • No Tardy Parties • Cafeteria Rewards for “Staying on Green”!

  14. Conduct Cards Conduct • Warning • Conduct Mark • 2 marks/day = miss part of recess • 3 marks/day = Detention • 6 marks/week = Detention Work Habits • Warning • Work Habit Mark Parents will have this feedback weekly in the Tuesday folder.

  15. Detention Details • Tuesdays 3:30-4:30 • You will be notified prior to the date • Parents are responsible for transportation • 3 detentions = office referral, each detention thereafter will result in another office referral.

  16. Your Support Is Essential Your involvement in your child’s learning experience at Timbers is a meaningful component of their success. • Take time to join our PTO! • Feel free to call, email, or schedule a conference if you have any questions.

  17. Grant a Wish Make wishes come true for your child’s classroom! Go to humbleisdfoundation.org to see your teacher’s wish list. Select the items you want to purchase with your donation. Thank you for your support!

  18. Important Dates • Sept. 7 – Grandparent Luncheon • Sept. 13 – TE School Spirit Night at Spring Creek Barbecue

  19. STAAR – 3rd Grade • Subjects Assessed: Reading and Math • 4 hour time limit • STAAR Math – April 23 • STAAR Reading – April 24

  20. Field Trips • Collection of money for field trips is according to district policy. • Money cannot be refunded. • All payments must be sent in cash by the specified deadline in order for a class check to be issued by the district. • Late submissions cannot be accepted and will result in students not being able to attend.

  21. Absences • Humble ISD requires that parents send a written note with a parent/guardian signature within 48 hours of absence. • Emails are great notifications but are not considered as an excuse notice unless it has a parent/guardian signature.

  22. School Forms • All completed school forms from parent packet will be due on and by Friday, August 31st. • This is a district deadline and must be met.
