  2. Miami Dade College Miami Dade College is the largest and most diverse college in the nation. With eight campuses and more than 174,000 students from across the world, the College offers over 300 programs of study and several degree options, including vocational, associate, and baccalaureate degrees. MDC features numerous Continuing Education classes, online credit classes through the Virtual College, the New World School of the Arts, The Honors College and Dual Enrollment. Our Innovators Elisabeth Mason is the CEO and one of the founders of Single Stop USA, a major national poverty-fighting organization which recently received funding through the White House Social Innovation Fund. Malou C. Harrison serves as Dean of Students at Miami Dade College, North Campus, providing leadership for the comprehensive enrollment management function of a campus that enrolls over 50,000 students annually.  Theodore Levitt is the Director of College Communications at Miami Dade College, overseeing website development, internal communications, and a range of outreach initiatives. Nate Falkner is the Vice President of Strategy and Technologies at Single Stop USA.  He oversees the development, maintenance, and integration of the organization’s technology platform and Benefits Enrollment Network, and directs the increasing focus on non-traditional distribution channels, including the Community College Initiative. Home Institution Barbara Pryor is the Collegewide Director of Single Stop at Miami Dade College. She oversees the Single Stop sites at the Kendall, North, and Wolfson Campuses Innovator Mercedes Arenas serves as the Single Stop Outreach Coordinator, providing services, benefits screening, and counseling for clients and potential clients, and referring those in need to external service providers for legal and financial advice.   4. Single Stop at Miami Dade College Single Stop (SS) is a ground-breaking partnership between MDC and Single Stop USA, an anti-poverty organization. Designed to help students persist and complete, MDC launched SS at 2 campuses in 2010, and then replicated it. SS’s model combines benefits screening, tax preparation, legal and financial counseling and mentoring. 100+ service-learning students assist with services. SS advisors use cutting-edge software to determine eligibility and to provide students coordinated access to  health insurance, food stamps and subsidies; financial coaching addresses debt management and budgeting; legal counseling targets housing, immigration and other matters; tax preparation ensures access to tax credits and financial aid filing. SS leverages existing resources to help the poorest students marshal resources to persist. Since the program launched, the Single Stop sites at MDC have served close to 6,000 students, helping them access benefits and services worth nearly $11 million.
