  1. Voices United # 402 verse 1 Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow Praise God from whom all blessings flow; praise God, all creatures high and low; give thanks to God in love made known: Creator, Word and Spirit, One.

  2. Voices United # 595 We Are Pilgrims 1 We are pilgrims on a journey, fellow travellers on the road; we are here to help each other walk the mile and bear the load. 2 Sister, let me be your servant, let me be as Christ to you; pray that I may have the grace to let you be my servant too.

  3. 3 I will hold the Christ-light for you in the night-time of your fear; I will hold my hand out to you, speak the peace you long to hear. 4 I will weep when you are weeping, when you laugh I'll laugh with you; I will share your joy and sorrow, till we've seen this journey through.

  4. 5 When we sing to God in heaven, we shall find such harmony, born of all we've known together of Christ's love and agony. 6 Brother, let me be your servant, let me be as Christ to you; pray that I may have the grace to let you be my servant too.

  5. Celebrate God’s Presence in The Sacrament of Baptism

  6. Profession of Faith and Promises Profession of Faith in the Triune God Do you believe in God, Source of love; in Jesus Christ, love incarnate; and in the Holy Spirit, love’s power? I do, by the grace of God. Commitment to Seek Justice and Resist Evil Desiring the freedom of new life in Christ, do you seek to resist evil, and to live in love and justice? I will, God being my helper. Commitment to Follow the Way of Jesus Christ Will you proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, in your words and actions? I will, God being my helper. Commitment to the Mission and Ministry of the Church Will you join with your brothers and sisters in this congregation to share in the life, work, and ministry of Jesus Christ? I will, God being my helper.

  7. Commitment of Parents In baptism, Kallei marks an important step in her journey of faith. Will you care for her, and help her to take her place within the mission and witness of Christ’s Church? I will, God being my helper. Congregational Commitment(please stand) We have heard the will of these persons. We receive Kalleiin Christ’s name, as we ourselves have been received. We all belong to the one household of faith in Jesus Christ. Will you support her with constant love, wholesome example, Christian teaching, and faithful prayer? We will, God being our helper. Affirmation of Faith(remain standing)

  8. A New Creed We are not alone, we live in God's world. We believe in God: who has created and is creating, who has come in Jesus,     the Word made flesh, to reconcile and make new, who works in us and others by the Spirit. We trust in God.

  9. We are called to be the Church: to celebrate God's presence, to live with respect in Creation, to love and serve others, to seek justice and resist evil, to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen, our judge and our hope. In life, in death, in life beyond death, God is with us. We are not alone. Thanks be to God.

  10. Prayer of Thanksgiving and the Pouring of Water God be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them to God. Let us give our thanks to God. It is good to give God thanks and praise. Gracious and Holy God, we bless you for the gift of life, and, within it, the gift of water. Over its unshaped promise your Spirit hovered at creation. By water, comes the growth of the earth. Through water, you led the children of Israel to freedom. In the waters of the Jordan your Child Jesus was baptized. Now may your Spirit be upon us and what we do, that this water may be a sign for all of new life in Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen.

  11. The Act of Baptism: Baptism in the Name of the Triune God Kallei, we baptize you, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Blessing May the blessing of the one God, Mother and Father of us all, be with you today and always. Amen. Marking with the Sign of the Cross Kallei, child of God, with the sign of the cross you are marked as Christ’s forever. Amen. Laying On of Hands Kallei, may the Holy Spirit, Love’s Power, guide you, inspire you, and work within you, all the days of your life. Amen.

  12. Declaration and Congregational Welcome In the name of Jesus Christ, Kallei has been received into the holy catholic church, the body of Christ in the world. With joy and thanksgiving we welcome you into the community of faith.

  13. We welcome Kallei Rogers to the family of Christians everywhere through the Sacrament of Baptism

  14. Voices United # 444 Child of Blessing, Child of Promise 1 Child of blessing, child of promise, baptized with the Spirit's sign; with this water God has sealed you unto love and grace divine. 2 Child of love, our love's expression, love's creation, loved indeed! Fresh from God, refresh our spirits, into joy and laughter lead.

  15. 3 Child of joy, our dearest treasure, God's you are, from God you came. Back to God we humbly give you; live as one who bears Christ's name. 4 Child of God your loving Parent, learn to know whose child you are. Grow to laugh and sing and worship, trusting in God's love and care.

  16. Voices United # 828-829, parts 1 & 3 Psalm 105 Refrain: Bless God, my soul. Hallelujah! Refrain: Bless God, my soul. Hallelujah! Give thanks and call on God's name. Make known to the nations what God has done. Sing, O sing the songs of praise; tell of all God's wonderful deeds. Exult in God's holy name; let those who seek God be joyful in heart.

  17. Turn for help to the One who is your strength; seek God's presence continually. Remember the marvels the Most High has done, the wonders and judgements God has given, O children of Abraham and Sarah, God's servants, O offspring of Israel, chosen of God. Refrain: Bless God, my soul. Hallelujah!

  18. You are the eternal God, your justice reaches every corner of the earth. You are ever mindful of your covenant, the promise you gave to a thousand generations, the covenant you made with Sarah and Abraham, the oath you gave to Isaac. You confirmed it for Jacob as binding. To Israel your everlasting covenant you declared, 'To you I give the land of Canaan, as your appointed inheritance.' Refrain: Bless God, my soul. Hallelujah!

  19. When Israel came to Egypt, when Jacob settled in the land of Ham, there you made your people fruitful, stronger than their foes. But when you turned their hearts to hate your people, to deceitful dealing with your servants, then you sent your servant Moses, and Aaron, whom you had chosen. Refrain: Bless God, my soul. Hallelujah!

  20. Voices United # 657 He Leadeth Me 1 He leadeth me: O blessed thought! O words with heavenly comfort fraught! Whate'er I do, where'er I be, still 'tis God's hand that leadeth me. He leadeth me! He leadeth me! By his own hand he leadeth me! His faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me!

  21. 2 Sometimes 'mid scenes of deepest gloom, sometimes where Eden's bowers bloom, by waters calm, o'er troubled sea, still 'tis his hand that leadeth me. He leadeth me! He leadeth me! By his own hand he leadeth me! His faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me!

  22. 3 Lord, I would clasp thy hand in mine, nor ever murmur nor repine, content, whatever lot I see, since 'tis my God that leadeth me. He leadeth me! He leadeth me! By his own hand he leadeth me! His faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me!

  23. 4 And when my task on earth is done, when by thy grace the victory's won, even death's cold wave I will not flee, since God through Jordan leadeth me. He leadeth me! He leadeth me! By his own hand he leadeth me! His faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me!

  29. Offertory Hymn – We Give Thee But Thine Own Voices United # 543 1 We give thee but thine own, what e'er the gift may be; all that we have is thine alone, a trust, O God, from thee. 2 May we thy bounties thus as stewards true receive, and gladly, as thou blessest us, to thee our first-fruits give.

  30. The determination to act faithfully comes with a high cost. As those around Martin Luther King found out, prejudice and hatred will not be deflected. As the friends of Oscar Romero found out, the preaching of the powerful ones does not include “freedom for the poor.” As refugees the world over have discovered, those engaged in warfare have no regard for the civilians in their path. As local government officials and those who whistle-blow on corporations have found, exposing authority figures may cost them their job. In our own sphere of action and influence, we have faithful choices to make. May we give and not count the cost.

  31. The determination to act faithfully comes with a high cost. Those who stand up against large corporations know this. Those who have protested against government immigration policies know this. Those who have been lost among forms, bureaucrats, and voice mail know this. Those who have been in dispute with health professionals know this. Those who try to make clear their feelings while lying weak in a hospital bed know this. Those whose voice has not been heard at the time of personal loss know this. The determination to act faithfully comes with a high cost. We pray for those who are suffering at this time, especially those who feel they are not in control (time of silent reflection). We pray for those who have lost loved ones (time of silent reflection). In our own sphere of action and influence, we have faithful choices to make. May we give and not count the cost.

  32. The determination to act faithfully comes with a high cost. Clergy whose principles are at odds with the faith community they serve are aware of this. Faith community members whose principles are at odds with the serving clergyperson are aware of this. Church leaders and members who take a stand in the local community against a low minimum wage, the exploitation of immigrant workers, or lack of affordable housing are aware of this. The issues of global warming and the manufacture and use of armaments, have pitted the national church against the government, and there has been a price to pay for their faithfulness to gospel principles. And in our own sphere of action and influence, we have faithful choices to make. May we give and not count the cost.

  33. The determination to act faithfully comes with a high cost. We find ourselves taking a stand against popular but costly government policies. We find ourselves speaking out against racially prejudiced jokes and remarks. We find ourselves not being able to go along with unethical practices at work. We find ourselves at odds with family members whose value system is very different from our own. We find ourselves shunned by those who play by self-serving rules. We find ourselves in dispute with those we count as friends. Especially in our own sphere of action and influence, we have faithful choices to make. May we give and not count the cost.

  34. More Voices # 651 Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehovah 1 Guide me, O thou great Jehovah, pilgrim through this barren land. I am weak, but thou art mighty, hold me with thy powerful hand. Bread of heaven, bread of heaven, feed me till I want no more, feed me till I want no more.

  35. 2 Open now the crystal fountain, whence the healing stream doth flow; let the fire and cloudy pillar lead me all my journey through. Strong deliverer, strong deliverer, be thou still my strength and shield, be thou still my strength and shield.

  36. 3 When I tread the verge of Jordan, bid my anxious fears subside; death of death, and hell's destruction, land me safe on Canaan's side: songs of praises, songs of praises I will ever give to thee, I will ever give to thee.

  37. Go with us, Lord, as now we depart, calming the fears that trouble each heart. Keep us all in your grace until we come, again, to this place.
