History • Created December 1, 1941 • WWII anti-submarine and border patrol • Congressionally chartered 501(c)3 • Volunteer civilian auxiliary of U.S.A.F. • 60,000 in 52 Wings; 1500 squadrons • 550 single-engine aircraft; >110,000 hours each year • 1200 emergency service vehicles • Nation’s most extensive HF/VHF network
