  15. God’s Response to Troubles To Baruch – Jeremiah 45:4 To Christians I will destroy this whole world – It’s only temporary. Don’t seek greatness. Seek service. Everyone will suffer. It’s part of being in a broken world. Wherever you go, I am with you. You will live forever. • I will destroy the land • You seek great things for yourself. Don’t do that. • All will suffer. • I will give you your life, wherever you go.

Baruch’s Consolation – Jer. 45 Baruch’s Seal Instead of taking that cushy, quiet, princely job in Jerusalem, Baruch has taken the more dangerous job as scribe for the unpopular prophet Jeremiah. The very suffering through which Baruch passes because of his loyalty to God gained him honor beyond anything he could have anticipated

Like Baruch, We Also . . . • Are Privileged to Suffer • Phil 1:29 – “For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake.” • 1 Tim 4:10 – “we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God” • Are Privileged to Have God With Us Always • 2 Tim 1:12 – “for I know whom I have believed , and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.” • Matthew 1:23 – “and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is ‘God with us.’”

  18. “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Rom 8:38-39
