  2. Observations • Problems with Buzz card scanning • Machine jams and malfunctions • Need to bend over to retrieve product • Product is roughly dropped once purchased • Boring experience

  3. Research • Wide range of products in Japanese Vending machines • Pizza • Noodles • Alcohol • Cigarettes • Robot vending machines • Mobile vending

  4. Research (cont.) • The killing machine that vends • More vending machine related fatalities than shark attack fatalities • least 37 deaths and 113 injuries have been recorded since 1978 (Consumer Product Safety Commission) • Vending machines are heavy

  5. Design goals • A safer machine to use • Better drink delivery system • Adjustable height for ease of use • Easier payment method • Mobility (later dropped) • More enjoyable/entertaining experience

  6. Accomplishing the goals • Design ideas • Table design • Visible conveyer belt delivery system • Pick -> Pay -> Retrieve • Height adjustable base • Drink elevator • Tap card to pay
