  4. Getting to School • Most students ride a bus to get to school. They also ride a bus home after school. • A few students walk to and from school. • Some students are driven to school by their parents. Most of these students are also picked up by their parents.

  5. School Day • The grade that you are in determines what time you go to school and what time you get out of school. • Fifth and sixth grade students start school at 7:50 a.m. and finish at 2:55 p.m. everyday. • Students in first through fourth grade start school at 8:15 and go until 3:30.

  6. During the school day, students study language arts, math, social studies, and science. They go to one special area class a day. Special area classes include art, music, library, and physical education.

  7. School Day • Students do not clean the school. • The school district has hired people called custodians who work to keep the school clean for the teachers and the students.

  8. . Clothing: There is a dress code but students do not have to wear uniforms.

  9. Students get a half an hour for lunch and they eat in the cafeteria.

  10. Students also get time to go outside and play for recess. The younger the student, the more recess time the student is allowed. If it is too cold to go outside, students play in their classrooms. If there is too much snow, school will not be open and students stay home for the day.
