  2. Measures of Variability • ? It is also called measures of DISPERSION. • ? It is the degree of variation in the set data. • ? Describes the spread or dispersion of the data. • ? Shows the homogeneity or the heterogeneity of the distribution of observations. 4 MEASURES OF VARIABILITY 1. Range 2. Variance 3. Standard deviation 4. Coefficient of variation

  3. MEDIUM TEXT • ? It is the simplest measure of variability to compute and understand. • ? It is the difference between the highest and lowest score. CHARACTERISTICS OF RANGE • ? It is very sensitive since it depends only on the two most extreme values. • ? It provides no information about how the remaining data is distributed. • ? It is an unstable descriptive measure of dispersion. • ? The range is an unreliable measure of dispersion. R = HV - LV Where R is the range HV is the highest value
