  1. LINEAR EQUATION WITH ONE VARIABLE (LEOV)

  2. Learning Objectives:After implementing this lesson students will be able to: • Changingdaily problems into mathematical models of the forms of Linear Equation with One Variable • Solving the daily problems using the Linear Equation with One Variable forms. • The characters building:Discipline, respect, diligence and responsibility.

  3. Changing Daily Problems into Mathematical Models of The Form of Linear Equations with One Variable • Problem Examples: • I have some candy in my pocket. Then I take two candies from my pocket. Now, the number of candy in my pocket is three candies left. Create the mathematical model of this situation! • Answer: • Let: The number of my candy before = x The mathematical model of that situation is: x - 2 = 3

  4. 2. After Anna given 2 pencils to Lusi, Lusi has 7 pencils now. Create the mathematical model of this situation! • Answer: • Let: The number of Lusi’s pencils before = a The mathematical model of that situation is: a + 2 = 7

  5. 3. Mr. Rifki has some fish in the his pond. One day Mr. Rifki buy 5 fish in the market. Then the fish were put into the his pond. Apparently the number of fish in the Mr. Rifki’s pond now is 23 fishs. Create a mathematical model of that situation!

  6. Answer: • Let: The number of Mr. Rifki fish before = x • The mathematical model of that situation is: • X + 5 = 23 After we could create the mathematical model of that situation, then we can determine the number of Mr. Rifki fish before in the following manner: x + 5 = 23 x + 5 – 5 = 23 – 5 x = 18 Therefore, the number of Mr. Rifki fish before is 18 fishs.

  7. Exercise:Write the LEOV for each of the following situations and answer the questions! • If Rp. 1.000,00 is added to Lia’s money, it will become Rp.4.500,00. how much Lia’s money before? • After 7 books are taken by Dea, Nisa has 15 books left. How many Nisa’s books before? • If Dicki’s money is miltiplied by 3, it will become Rp.24.000,00. how much the real Dicki’s money? • If Father’s money is given to his four childrens each of them will have Rp.7.000,00. how much Father’s money?
