    2. Building Star Recertification Objectives Review safety programs and procedures Identify Building Star sites for recertification Hold meetings with Building Star site superintendents Hold meetings with subcontractors Conduct a safety pre-inspection of the sites Site evaluation by OSHA

    3. Building Star Pre-Evaluation Process Review safety programs and policies Start review at least 3 months prior to evaluation Check content of site specific safety plan Check to see if all subcontractors have submitted their safety plans and hazardous communication programs Make sure all safety plans are located in office trailer

    4. Identify Building Star Sites Choose at least two sites for recertification Identify sites with fall protection, electrical, caught in-between, and struck-by activity if possible

    5. Meet with Building Star Site Superintendents Start coaching superintendents about what OSHA evaluators will be looking for Explain to them if they see a safety hazard correct it immediately (don’t wait for the evaluators to point it out) Be proactive and explain to the evaluator how you conduct your daily job site walkaround/safety inspections

    6. Meet with Subcontractors Coach Foreman on what OSHA evaluators will be looking for: Foreman/Competent person interview Training Inspections Accident investigations Submission of required safety paper work Pre-task safety plans Worker interviews

    7. Pre-inspection of Star Sites Inspect each Building star site at least a couple of days prior to evaluation Ensure all safety hazards are abated Final coaching session with Superintendents

    8. Building Star Site Evaluation by OSHA Layout all safety programs and documentation during opening conference Abate all hazards identified by evaluators immediately if possible Let evaluators lead the inspection process They are on your site to offer assistance in improving safety management of your project

    9. Building Star Recertification Summary At closing conference discuss realistic abatement times for correcting or improving the safety performance on the site Thank them for helping to improve the safety performance of your company
