Visitor Program • 20 visitors since January 2004 (6 long term) • Visitors give talks, often jointly supported with other departments and groups • Visiting researchers also meet with students and postdocs, and on collaborative research projects Summer 2006 Left: Jeanlex de Souza, from University of Fortaleza, Brazil, is presently doing research on the simulation of the electronic properties of Si and SiGe nanocrystals embedded in SiO2. Dr. Souza and Professor Jean-Pierre LeBurton are developing a larger proposal for an exchange program between the University of Illinois and the University of Fortaleza on the simulation of nanocrystals. Right: Ivo Souza, from UC Berkeley, meets with postdoctoral researchers in David Ceperley’s group, Simone Chiesa and Michele Casula.
