  1. ARTISTS DISPLAY THEIR ART IN PUBLIC TO…

  2. Tell their stories • Share it with others • Gain respect in the community • For competition • Observe how the following people displayed their artwork. What details do you notice?

  3. What color do you think is the best for mounting art? WHY?

  4. Museum Studies Major Nicole says… …essentially when hanging art for a show, it is best to use black because there is no competing - in more than one way. When some colors are placed next to each other they make vibrations and will look wonderful or will look bad. That is why if you use black (or white for that matter) then it creates a neutral background that doesn't take away or add to the actual art.

  5. What effects could a colored background have on your art? How would you feel if your art had a “bad” colored background?

  6. Museum studies major Nicole says… a good exhibit avoids distractions, it has a good design including layout or arrangement, good use of color, typography, lighting, etc., and it looks good - a dirty, crudely made, tasteless exhibit will repel visitors.

  7. Answer additional questions with your group or partner…

  8. Form a plan on how you will present your art work Present your plan Reach class consensus
