  2. 15 percent of families eating together 2 or fewer days a week. Most families eat dinner together 4 evenings a week about Students who regularly eat dinner with their families 4 or more times a week score better on tests than those who eat family dinners 3 or fewer times a week. Students in grades 4 to 6 who ate dinners with their families consumed more vegetables, more fruit and juice, and less soda. Children ages 7 to 11 who did well on school achievement tests spent a large amount of time eating meals and snacks with their families. The primary benefit to eating together was strengthening the family by providing opportunities for communication and building

  3. Why Eat Together Children do better in school. Teenagers are less apt to use alcohol or drugs. Meals are more nutritious and healthful. Children and teenagers say they like having time to talk to the adults in their lives. Food dollars are better utilized with larger sized purchases. Communication between children and adults improves. Time is better utilized because the family only cooks one meal. Children have fewer behavior problems.
