  8. Gabrielle Bonheur “Coco” Chanel Born in 1883,Mademoiselle Chanel was famous for the legendary little black dress, suits and jackets, pearl necklaces, and tanned skin. Chanel became known as “Coco” when she was a singer in cafes between 1905 and 1908. Her fashion career began in 1908 when she began designing hats. By 1916 she opened first haute couture salon in Biarritz.
