Case Study – ICICLE Project • This project used MultiMe to create opportunities for adults with a learning disability • Before only 23% had used social networks – after ICICLE this was 87% • 96% of volunteers reported that MultiMe helped them to see how multimedia can ‘increase community involvement’ • After using MultiMe the number of learners expressing a sense failure, dropped from 30 to just 6% • 79% of support workers stated they had learnt new ways to empower others

MultiMe Learning • Complements the social and emotional aspects of learning (SEAL) • Gives learners skills in the use of multimedia as a communication tool and to build their pupil voice, confidence and a positive image • Facilitates better engagement, interaction and communication with learners and learning community • Assists with the development of community building • Enables a learner to work to her/his own pace and engage with others more easily • The system is completely portable and flexible, it grows with learner and supports them through their transition process • Enables teachers to develop innovative approaches to learning • Works alongside existingmanagement information systems

Individual • Personalised Health Education • Health promotion/shared decision making/lifestyle and health advice • Health action planning/co-produced plans • Recording and tracking progress on identified health needs • Inclusion of key health professionals in COS/fast track support for individuals with complex health care needs/facilitating online consultations/providing evidence to health professionals/ • As a contact or safeguarding tool

Supporting health professionals, GPs and community nurses • Engagement of the individual with health professionals, using live technology to enhance health care. The use of multi media may be especially powerful for individuals with more complex health needs, or difficulty communicating in a traditional way • Development of health strategies and shared decision making, using multi media as a format for informing and recording decisions • Recording and tracking progress on identified health needs • Reduce waiting time and improve efficiency by logging patient enquiries online via MultiMe and video messaging. Potential cost savings to the NHS are substantial
