  5. Lessons in Leadership: Nehemiah Case Study • We cannot separate GOOD LEADERSHIP from CLEAR VISION (6:15 complete the WALL in 52 days, and 9-13TRANSFORMATION); • Clarity: Communicating and “Spirit” of the VISION in management; • Lasting leaders feel the burden of ANEED before they receive THE VISION to meet it (1:1-4); • Prayers internalizes the BURDEN, deepening our OWNERSHIP of a NEED (God -> me); • Leaders act from a deep sense of RESPONSIBILITY (The greatest law and great commandment); • Leaders are fulfilled by EMPOWERING OTHERS than by DOING THE WORK THEMSELVES (3:v1-32).

  7. Prayers and Vision: Nehemiah 1:4 • Prayers internalizes the BURDEN, deepening our OWNERSHIP of a NEED (God -> me); • Prayers insists that we QUIET our HEARTS and WAIT, slowing us down to RECEIVE from God; • Prayers INFUSES the VISION, ENABLING us to see what God wants to do; • Prayers initiates the VISION’s fulfillment, acting as a CATALYST for us to act.
