National Hispanic Heritage Month September 15 to October 15 --Recognition of the contributions of Hispanic and Latin Americans to the heritage and culture of the United States-- • Chang-Dìaz flew on a total of seven space-shuttle missions. • Chang-Dìaz is also the director of the Advanced Space Propulsion Laboratory at NASA's Johnson Space Center, where he has been developing a plasma rocket.
