  2. Christmasgreetings We sendgreetings on Christmascardswishingourfamilyorfriendsallthebest and blessingGod’sChild. Preparation for Christmas in Poland begin few weeks before it. More and more popular is sending greetings by e-mail or text message especially among young people.

  3. Roraty Four weeks before Christmas people go to the church on a special mass called Roraty. They bring Chinese lanterns that light up the dark church just like Christ lights up the darkness of the sin and death.

  4. Children write letters to Santa Claus and they get presents on 24th December They also make Christmas trees, ornaments like glass balls , chains from blotting paper , baked ginger men etc, and then decorate the Christmas tree. On the top there is a star and beetwen the branches shine colour lights.

  5. The most importanteventduringtheallChristmas Time in Poland isCHRISTMAS EVE. It’s a day before Christmas birth- 24th December.

  6. On the table there are 12 Lentenfaredishes for example: Herring salad Stewed with desiccated fruit. Boiled dough pockets filled with sauerkraut and mushrooms

  7. Ravioli Beetroot soup Fried carp Kutia- boiled groats with poppy and sugar Dumplings with poppy and sugar

  8. Poppyseed cake Boiled sauerkraut with mushrooms Sauerkraut with pea Bread

  9. Under the tablecloth there is hay to remind people that Jesus was born in the poor crib. At the table people in Poland keep the one empty place for a stranger who is alone and needs help and may apper during the supper

  10. The main moment during Christmas Eve is Christmas Eve Supper. It starts when the first star appears at the sky like a Bethlehem star has leaded shepards and kings to the Nativity. First the senior of the family reads the Bible- the passage about Christmas birth- Łk(2,1-20), and then people SHARE WAFER wishing each other all the best

  11. During the Christmas Eve Supper people sing different carols.If they can, they play musical instruments as well. The most popular carols in Poland are „Cicha Noc” and „Przybieżeli do Betlejem”

  12. In that evening Santa Claus comes to children who were good in the hole year. He usually hurries so gives leave presents under the Christmas tree.

  13. Cristmasmidnight mass After the Christmas Eve Supper many people go to the church for the Christmas midnight mass. It’s the first mass during Christmas. It reminds shepherds’ waiting. Speciall place in the church takes up the Nativity- which shows the crib and God’s child in it, Virgin Mary, St. Jozeph, angles, shepards, animals and kings who accompannied God’s child after birth.
