  2. Basics • Review strategy • Names from its process of having students “pop up” during the review • Students assume responsibility for prompting each other and holding each other responsible for what they have learned. • Student teaching peers activity

Steps • Arrange the desks such that there are 4-5 grouped together in the front of the room • Select 4-5 students to take a seat in the desks upfront • Ask a student to stand and state a fact about a certain topic. • Have another student to pop up and state a fact that elaborates on the previous one or another step in the sequence.

  4. Steps Continued • Students participating in the popcorn review should be held accountable by their classmate, who should be checking for accuracy and interjecting with relevant information. • Every couple of minutes, swap out the students conducting the popcorn review. • If the review begins to lag, have the teacher introduce a new popcorn subject.

  5. Supplement • Optional- For students who really dislike talking in the class can make up points lost by not participating by submitting a written write up of what they would have said if they wanted to participate. • For all students, have them write up one fact that really stood out to them in the popcorn review, one thing else they would have wanted to say, and how they liked the popcorn review.
