  2. Executive Branch • The Executive Branch is the President • He is responsible for carrying out laws • He approves bills or vetoes bills. (If he vetoes a bill it means that the bill will not be made into a law. • He appoints justices. Justices are judges in the Supreme Court. • He can make treaties. They are agreements with other countries.

  3. Legislative Branch • The Legislative Branch is the Congress. • The Congress is made up of the Senate and the House of Representatives. • It can override the President if he vetoes a bill. • It can approve treaties. • It can make Federal courts. • It may impeach Justices and the President.

  4. Judicial Branch • It is the federal court system. • It decides whether the laws are constitutional which means they decide if they go against the Constitution. • It decides the meaning of laws. • It interprets laws and treaties and decides if they are legal under the Constitution. • It decides if the President’s actions are constitutional.
