  28. Solution View – VMM Architecture

  29. Technical – Capacities, Limitations, Procedures • Database Issues • Supports MSDE, Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and 2005 • Database size determine by • Length of time data is stored • Call types • Call traffic volume • Reporting interval • Network Traffic Issues • Network performance • NIC on VMM server • RTCP monitor performance and VMM database performance • Consider more than one VMM server if more than 4000 concurrent streams at peak traffic condition. This equates to 2000 concurrent calls.

  30. New Feature: VMM Server as Windows Service • VMM Server now runs as a Windows Service • Server starts automatically when machine is started • Server status is displayed as tray icon in Windows Task Bar • Start / stop server by context (right-click) menu

  31. New Feature: QoS Graphical Enhancements Additional metrics in detail reports for endpoints and sessions: • Jitter buffer over/under runs • Jitter buffer delays • Number sequence jumps • Max sequence jump • Number sequence falls • Max sequence falls • Received octets

  32. New Feature: User-specified Aliases • User can specify “friendly” aliases for IP addresses that are used throughout the VMM user interface, such as result lists. Configuring aliases from the client Configuring aliases from the server

  33. New Feature: User-specified Aliases • User can toggle between using aliases or regular IP addresses in display. Aliases are off – IP addresses used Aliases are on – text labels used

  34. Database Improvements • User can significantly improve database performance using “Store Bad Calls Only” option • Sessions with good QoS characteristics are not stored • Improve runtime performance • Reduce database sizes • This feature is optimized in VMM 3.1. VMM 3.0 stores all calls and purges good calls regularly. VMM 3.1 does not store good calls in the first place
