Han Dynasty • A Dynasty is a set of rulers that come from the same family • Corruption in the Han dynasty led to high taxes, forced labor on public projects and fights between warlords • After the fall of the Han dynasty the kingdom broke up into separate kingdoms….eventually the Tang dynasty took power and unified China • China was able to remain unified because only the most qualified people were given jobs

  5. Buddhism in China • During the Tang dynasty, the practice of Buddhism was accepted • Buddhism originally spread from India to China to Korea to Japan because of the work of missionaries, the support of government leaders, and increasing trade and contacts

Confucianism in China during the Song Dynasty • Confucius taught that except for friends in every relationship one person is above the other, those who were above someone should be kind to those below, and those who were below another person should be loyal to those above them. • Because of Confucianism rulers expected to be honest, moral, and able to maintain order.
