Historical Perspective November 2006 – OYAP Conference Ryerson, Delta Chelsea Meeting • Various DSB OYAP Coordinators met to discuss duplication of CIDF funded projects • Identified need for unified provincial voice of OYAP Coordinators to communicate with OPAC and MTCU April 2007 – OCEA Spring Conference, Ottawa • First general meeting of all OYAP Coordinators to explore concept of a provincial OYAP Coordinators organization/association • 37 boards endorsed the creation of an OYAP Coordinators Provincial group September 2007 – Interim Committee Struck • Teleconferences held amongst reps from regional structures October 2007 – OCEA, Deerhurst • General meeting of all OYAP Coordinators • 45 boards represented and discussed potential organization • Consensus reached and plan developed to create interim committee OYAP / PAJO Provincial Conference

Historical Perspective February 2008 • MTCU incorporates new affiliation group in OYAP Organization chart May 2008 – OCTE Conference, Nottawasaga • Third general meeting of all OYAP Coordinators and EDU rep at OCTE Spring Conference • Subcommittee established to pursue OYAP Provincial logo project that would be launched at the fall OYAP Provincial Conference October 2008 – OCEA, Deerhurst • Quorum of OCPA reps and Conference Chairs met to plan launch of OCPA at fall OYAP Provincial Conference • Established interim executive structure for term until January 2009 • Interim executive will draft Structure, Mandate, Mission, Goals, Operating Guidelines for OCPA • Interim executive will establish an annual process to conduct nominations for region reps and elect new OCPA executive OYAP / PAJO Provincial Conference

  21. OCPA Mandate MISSION: • To provide professional leadership, support, resources, and a liaison for all OYAP stakeholders ie. students, parents, educators, employers, community services, government OYAP / PAJO Provincial Conference

  22. VISION: • To present a unified and collaborative approach for the delivery of the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program to maximize and enhance apprenticeship opportunities for all students OYAP / PAJO Provincial Conference

GOALS: • Establish priorities for innovation and resource development pertaining to OYAP; • Support the development of resources to be used province-wide in order to minimize duplication and reduce costs; • Advocate for policies and procedures for OYAP and OCPA projects by liaising with OPAC, OCEA, OCTE, EDU, MTCU and other relevant stakeholders • Research national, international models; • Maintain and enhance partnerships with OYAP stakeholders (students, parents, community services, educators, government, business/industry). Draft Governance 4.0 STRUCTURE: TBA 4.1 OCPA Membership: • All OYAP Coordinators are invited to be a member of OCPA • OYAP Coordinators will be invoiced for annual dues to help offset operating expenses, Directors’ expenses and Board approved project expenditures • Suggested annual dues of $200 - $250 OYAP / PAJO Provincial Conference

Draft Governance 4.0 STRUCTURE: 4.2 OCPA Board: “Director” refers to OYAP Coordinator OCPA Board membership is comprised of: Up to 10 elected Directors representing the 5 geographical regions; 2 directors/region: South East Central (presently SECOCA) South West Central (presently SWCOCA) Eastern (presently EROC) North East North West 2 Directors representing the Francophone boards Exofficio member: OCTE Rep (OCTE Executive Member appointed by OCTE) Exofficio member: OCEA Rep (OCEA Executive Member appointed by OCEA) Quorum for Board meetings will be 7 Directors (MTCU and EDU provincial staff could be invited on a as need basis for consultative purposes) OYAP / PAJO Provincial Conference

Draft Governance 4.0 STRUCTURE: 4.3.1 OCPA Executive Committee 6 officers of the OCPA Board consisting of: Chair Vice-Chair Secretary Treasurer 2 Directors at large Officer positions should be held by one Director per geographical region, 1 francophone Director and where possible, equal representation; 2 non-voting members: OCTE Rep and OCEA Rep Quorum for Executive Committee meetings will be OVER 50% (4 officers) OYAP / PAJO Provincial Conference

  36. Round Table Discussions – Strengthening Bridges to Apprenticeship Instructions: • Choose a topic that interests you and move to the assigned table. First 3 – 5 min: • Conduct introductions of participants (Name/Affiliation) • Choose a recorder for the discussion. Choose discussion facilitator and time keeper Next 10 - 15 min: • Discuss current challenges and issues pertaining to topic; record key points on template provided. Next 15 - 20 min: • Facilitator first asks how many participants have “best practice” to share; facilitator manages time/speaker to ensure each speaker has opportunity to share in this allotted time; record key points on template provided Next 15 - 20 min: • Brainstorm and record proposed solutions. Submit completed form to Conference Team member prior to departure. • Highlights of all roundtable discussions will be presented to the entire conference delegation tomorrow morning.
