  2. HoloTrak ÔOmni-Directional Reader Family • This line of Omni-Directional Bar Code Readers provides a revolutionary product for the bar code market place. • This line provides extraordinary reading capability with prices 1/3 to 1/2 that of other Omni-Directional Readers. IS8500 IS8400 IS8530 IS8300

  3. HoloTrak Scanner Family- Benefits • Lower Cost • 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of Competitive units • Smaller size • 10”x10”x6”, or 14”x15”x7” • Better reliability • One moving part • Easy manual backup • Undecoded Hand-Held Scanner Port • Large read area

  4. Metrologic’s Holographic Technology • The price and performance is possible due to Holographic Technology, specifically the use of holographic lenses to focus the lasers. • The only moving part is the spinning disk with the lenses. • As each lens passes each laser, it focuses the beam to the proper focal length. • This results in low cost, small size and great reliability.

  5. Holographic Disk • A disk has 15, 16 or 21 holographic facets (or lenses) • Each sector is equivalent to two lenses and a mirror • The lens focuses both outgoing and incoming light • Holographic emulsion is sealed between 2 glass disks with epoxy • Disks have been tested by boiling and freezing • Disks rotate at 4200 RPM for up to 7,350 scan lines /second

  6. Holographic Scanning Rotating Holodisc Facets Laser diode (1) Focus Photodetector (3) Receive reflective light (2) Scan Bar Code

  7. IS8000 Series Why HoloTrak? • 3, 4 or 5 “Focal Lengths” • Each HoloTrak has a complete scan pattern with its scan lines focused for that level • The overlapping read areas of the focal lengths provide the large read volumes and consistent read width

  8. HoloTrak Products • Standard Scanners* • Special Scanners* • Interface Boxes • Cables • HoloTrak Configuration Software • Renewal Parts *Scanners include power supply and mounting bracket

  9. IS8500-1L • 5 VLD’s • 80 line omni-directional pattern • Aggressive 5,600 scan lines/sec. • 40” DOF and 22” scan width with 17 mil codes • Accuracy: codes down to 13 mil at belt speeds up to 300 ft/min • 25 - 35 mil maximum bar width • Bar code aspect ratios up to 2.51:1 (W:H) 20 line scan pattern in each focal plane, repeated 4 times.

  10. IS8300-1L • 5 VLD’s • 75 line omni-directional pattern • Aggressive 5,250 scan lines/sec. • 20” DOF and 12” scan width with 8 mil codes • Accuracy: codes down to 8 mil at belt speeds up to 300 ft/min • 20 mil maximum bar width • Bar code aspect ratios up to 2.51:1(W:H) 15 line scan pattern in each focal plane, repeated 5 times.

  11. IS8530-1L • 5 VLD’s • 105 line omni-directional pattern • Aggressive 5,250 scan lines/sec. • 20” DOF and 12” scan width with 8 mil codes • Accuracy: codes down to 8 mil at belt speeds up to 300 ft/min • 20 mil maximum bar width • Bar code aspect ratios up to 2.51:1(W:H) 35 line scan pattern in each focal plane, repeated 3 times.

  12. IS8400-1L • 3 VLD’s • Intended for hand-held scanner replacement • 48 line omni-directional pattern • 3,360 scan lines/sec • 36” DOF and 22” scan width with 25 mil codes • Accuracy: codes down to 13 mil at belt speeds less than 100 ft/min • 25 - 30 mil maximum bar width • Aspect ratios up to 1.51:1 (W:H) 12 line scan pattern in each focal plane, repeated 4 times.

  13. HoloTrak Target Applications • Package sortation/distribution • Overhead scanning • Truck loading / unloading • Vehicle scanning • Tire Tracking • Paper roll scanning • Baggage / cargo handling • Hand held scanner replacment • reduces amount of time to scan a label (move product or walk under reader) • can increase productivity and reduce cost

  14. HoloTrak Selection Considerations • Conveyor / line speed • typically 300 ft/min maximum • higher speeds possible but dependent on bar code quality, size, and aspect ratio • Bar code aspect ratio (width to height) • Package spacing • 12” for IS8300-1L, IS8530-1L • 22” for IS8500-1L, IS8400-1L
