  3. Who are ? Manufacturing facility Newcastle, UK Established 2009 • “illuminate” in Spanish • Over 30 years industry experience • Minority/Woman owned business • Sales & Marketing Office in Sugarland, Texas • Manufacturing Facility in Newcastle, UK Specialist Manufacturer CCTV Lighting • Invisible series illuminators • Visible series illuminators • License plate recognition cameras Sales & Marketing Office Sugarland, TX

  4. Who are ? Company mission “Supply high quality and reliable lighting and license plate recognition products to the CCTV industry, backed by unsurpassed customer service”

  5. The Need for CCTV Lighting • Most crime occurs during darkness • All cameras need light to see • Regular street lighting is not good enough • Provide evidence for judicial purposes • IP cameras need more light • Megapixel cameras need more light • Video analytics only works with good clean images

  6. Types of Illumination Incandescent Bulb HID Bulb Fluorescent Lamp LED

  7. LED or Bulb? Incandescent Bulbs • Low cost • 10% efficient – 90% heat • Require regular replacement Halogen Bulb • Halogen 15% efficient – 85% heat • Require regular replacement Drawbacks • Expensive to operate • Expensive to maintain

  8. LED or Bulb? Fluorescent Lamps • 40% efficient – 60% heat • Lasts 10-20 times longer than normal bulb Drawbacks • Produces a “flicker” • Contains mercury

  9. LED or Bulb? HID Lamps • 60-80% efficient – 20-40% heat • Good color rendition except low pressure sodium Drawbacks • Slow start up

  10. Why LED? LEDs • 80-90% efficient – 10-20% heat • Extremely low running costs • Extremely long life • 10 year in case of • Durable and insensitive to vibration • Uniform illumination • Global shift in lighting from incandescent bulbs to LEDs

  11. Operating Costs

  12. Operating Costs

  13. Operating Costs • Potential saving on 1 illuminator of $731 per year • Over ten years this is a potential saving of $7,310 • Potential saving on 20 illuminators of $14,620 per year • Over ten years this is a potential saving of $146,200 LED based illuminators also provide increased site security as lighting is less likely to be “down”

  14. What is Invisible Illumination? • Active or near Infrared illumination • Energy invisible to the human eye • Visible to b/w cameras • Light is measured in Nanometers (nm) • Infrared light is 700nm - 1000nm • Ideal source of illumination for security cameras:- • Ideal as a covert form of illumination • No light pollution • Longer range than visible light • “Don’t illuminate those assets you are trying to protect”

  15. Infrared Illuminators Visible or Invisible Lighting? 715-730nmVisible red glow 815-850nmFaint red glow 940-950nmInvisible Lower wavelength (<850nm) • Longer distances but more visible Higher wavelengths (>940nm) • Shorter distances but invisible

  16. What is Invisible Illumination? ON IR148 13W 60o Short Range Infrared Illuminator OFF

  17. What is Invisible Illumination? ON IR312 26W 60o Medium Range Infrared Illuminator OFF

  18. What is Invisible Illumination? ON IR312 26W 60o Medium Range Infrared Illuminator OFF

  19. Visible or Invisible Lighting? White Light Illuminators White Light = Visible Light Illuminate area for color CCTV cameras Visible lighting for safety Provide welcoming environment Deter crime by illuminating the area Multipurpose lighting - ‘all the above’

  20. What is Visible Illumination? WL220 26W 30o Medium Range White Light Illuminator ON OFF

  21. Visible or Invisible Lighting?

  22. How to Specify Lighting for CCTV • Angle of illumination should match camera/lens angle • Too narrow • camera will see bright spot in middle of scene • contrast between light & dark areas on scene will be too great • Too wide wastes energy & reduces distance • Table below shows the FOV angle for different lenses

  23. How to Specify Lighting for CCTV • SelectAngle of Illumination • Following angles are available • Select required Distance of Illumination • As angle increases distance decreases • Choose relevant Illuminator from Iluminar Distance Chart

  24. Dual Mounting Bracket • Infrared or White Light Illuminators • Adjustable Illumination • Doubles the Angle of Illumination (max. 240 degrees) • Increases Illumination distance by up to 40% • Mix-and-match illuminators

  25. Lighting for Dome Cameras Problem: “Providing lighting for PTZ dome cameras is a challenge for CCTV professionals as lighting cannot be fitted to move with the camera.” Solutions: • Wide Angle Illumination • Target Area Illumination • Local Area Illumination

  26. Lighting for Dome Cameras Wide Angle illumination • Wide angle illuminators covering 120° allow the full 360° angle of a dome to be covered with only 3 illuminators • Use IL-DMB Dual Mounting Bracket

  27. Lighting for Dome Cameras Local area illumination • Illuminator fitted away from camera to illuminate the local scene Target area illumination • Target specific points of interest such as gates or doorways

  28. Lighting & PTZ Systems Problem: • At long distances the lens is often zoomed in giving a narrow FOV • At short distances camera pans to a wide angle • Requires lighting to cover both narrow & wide angles Solutions: • Provide lighting using twin lighting system mounted on PTZ camera (typically 1 wide & 1 narrow) • Same solutions as for Dome Cameras Pelco Esprit with IR229-P Illuminators attached
