SENIOR COURSE • 2 per year - 5 1/2 months duration • Colonels or Lieutenant-Colonels and civilian equivalents • Quotes - 74 (max) NATO + 10 PfP • SENIOR COURSE 102 (24FEB03 – 24JUL03) • Total Course Members 83 (NATO - 68; PfP - 15) • 31 Countries (17 NATO countries + 14 PfP Countries) • Males 75 + 8 Females • Military 62 (28 A, 17 F, 1 M, 16 N); Civilians 21 (incl. 6 Diplomats) • PfP Countries: Albania, Armenia, Austria, Bulgaria, Estonia, Finland, FYROM, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland

HOW WE OPERATE • NDC does not provide specific training instead it provides learning opportunities • We apply Chatham House rules - always • We give total academic freedom to our lecturers and the opportunity to our course members to challenge lecturers and to present personal views • We present personal views and not national positions • Unique role of faculty advisers

RESEARCH ACTIVITY THREE INITIATIVES: 1.SEMINARS / WORKSHOPS Increase the number of seminars/workshops from three to six in 2003 and up to nine in 2004 2.FELLOWSHIPS Modify the scope and increase the number of fellowships from four to six/seven in 2003 and up to eight/ten in 2004 3.PUBLICATIONS Given ‘One’ and ‘Two’ above, we intend to double our publications from seven/eight per year to potentially fifteen/sixteen in 2003 and nineteen/twenty-one in 2004

  10. OUTREACH ACTIVITIES • Increase support for NATO-Russia Council approved projects • Intensify Fellowship programme • Add Med. Dialogue and Russian course members to the Senior Course in 2003 • Extend partnering with other Academic and Security Research Institutes • Widen the attendance in the Conference of Commandants • Sustain our level of active participation in the Consortium • Offer continuous further education to a wider audience through short courses, ADL, and web site links
