Teacher Performance Expectations • Jigsaw Activity • 6 groups • Create overheads, group presentations • Professional Goals format • Write the domain statement (larger font +/- border) • 2-3 goals in bold (I will develop . . .) • 2-4 statement telling how you will accomplish the goal (I will accomplish this by . . . ) • Exemplar in the next slide . . . and 4 more drafts we created in class during the TPE presentations.

  3. C. Engaging and Supporting Students in Learning I will develop classroom curriculum and learning to support the cognitive, social, physical, and emotional needs of students. I will accomplish this by using developmentally appropriate practice. I will value languages other than English spoken by students. I will accomplish this by incorporating aspects of these languages into classroom curriculum and conversation, allowing these languages to be spoken in the classroom, as well as providing an atmosphere of acceptance and respect for multi-lingual students.

Making Subject Matter Comprehensible to Students I will teach the state adopted science content standards in a way that encourages students’ interest in science.I will accomplish this by using relevant everyday examples, encouraging participation of all students, and utilizing hands on experiments. I will check to make certain that my lesson are aligned with standards by becoming knowledgeable and well versed in my grade level standards. I will structure instruction such that it is balanced and enhanced students’ academic knowledge.I will accomplish this through the use of a variety of strategies that allow different kinds of students to work together as they learn about the important practical skills, vital concepts, care and use of equipment.

For Talk Show in 2 weeks (Session #6, 3/3/08) . . . • Do all 2/18 readings and prepare talking points instead of DEJ notes for talk show program (notes will be used during show and collected for grading at the end of class) • Read your subject’s content standards (online at http://www.cde.ca.gov/be/st/ss/) and be familiar with them • Be prepared to “be” any of the authors in this section of readings (e.g., Schmoker, Marzano, Murname, Meier, Nash . . .) and represent their views on a panel OR role play another school or community constituent who questions panel member
