  2. What Is Psoriasis? Skin cells can multiply up to 10 times more quickly than usual when someone has the skin condition psoriasis. As a result, the skin develops into red spots that are rough and coated with white scales. They can grow everywhere, but the scalp, elbows, knees, and lower back are where they most frequently show up. Nobody can contract psoriasis from another individual. Members of the same family can experience it occasionally.Typically, psoriasis first manifests in early adulthood. It mostly impacts a few specific regions for most people. Psoriasis can spread to significant areas of the body in severe cases. Throughout a person's lifetime, the patches may appear and go before returning.

  3. Symptoms The type of psoriasis you have will determine the symptoms you experience. Plaque psoriasis is the most prevalent type of the disorder, and some frequent symptoms include: • Plaques of red skin, frequently covered in scales of silver. These plaques can itch, hurt, and occasionally crack and bleed. In extreme circumstances, the plaques will spread across wide areas as they expand and fuse. • Disorders of the fingernails and toenails, such as nail pitting and discolouration. The nails may also crumble or separate from the nail bed.Plaques of scales or crust on the scalp. • Scale or crusty patches on the scalp. Psoriatic arthritis is a kind of arthritis that can affect people with psoriasis. The joints experience discomfort and swelling as a result. According to the National Psoriasis Foundation, 10% to 30% of patients with Psoriatic arthritis coexists with psoriasis.

  4. Types Other types of psoriasis include: • Pustular psoriasis results in skin that is red, scaly, and covered in microscopic pustules on the palms and soles of the feet. • Small, red spots, mostly on the torso and limbs, are the major symptoms of guttate psoriasis, which frequently begins in infancy or young adulthood. Respiratory infections, strep throat, tonsillitis, stress, skin injuries, and taking beta-blockers and antimalarial drugs can all be triggers. • Bright red, shiny lesions caused by inverse psoriasis develop in skin folds like the armpits, groyne, and area under the breasts. • Psoriasis known as erythrodermic causes the skin to become intensely red and shed scales in sheets. Severe sunburn, infections, specific drugs, and quitting particular types of psoriasis treatment are its triggers. It should be treated right away because it could cause serious sickness.

  5. Treatment Fortunately, there are numerous remedies. Some reduce the production of new skin cells, while others treat dry skin and irritation. Based on factors including the extent of your rash, where it is on your body, your age, your general health, and others, your doctor will choose the best course of therapy for you. Commonly used therapies include: • steroids creams • Skin moisturising products • Carbon tar (a common treatment for scalp psoriasis available in lotions, creams, foams, shampoos, and bath solutions) • A strong brand of vitamin D-based cream or ointment that your doctor has prescribed. Both dietary and supplement vitamin D has no impact.) • Cosmetic retinoids
