  6. Portfolio & Culminating Project Portfolio (9th-12th grade) • Student will save some of his/her best works. Culminating Project (12th grade ) • Students will complete a proposal/letter of intent that must be approved prior to beginning the culminating project. • Students develop a project in which they apply their field of study learning to develop a product, event, or service. • Students will present their project and portfolio to a panel.

EWHS International Baccalaureate Program • Take Honors in 9th and 10th Grade, IB classes in 11th and 12th grades (Any EWHS student can take these classes) • A curriculum infused with "globalism" • A rigorous pre-university diploma designed to give admission/credit to prestigious universities • Designed for the highly motivated student seeking educational challenges • A sense of accomplishment in meeting the challenge of an international standard of excellence

IB Subjects • Language A1 (English & World Literature) • Language B (Spanish, French, and Mandarin Chinese) • Individuals & Societies (Social Studies) • Mathematics • Experimental Sciences (Biology- Anatomy and Physiology and Ecology, Chemistry, Physics) • 6th Subject (IB Psychology, IB Art History, a third language or second science, IB Music , IB Business Management and IB Computer Science could be a choice.)

Running Start • Opportunity for Juniors and Seniors to take college courses • Designed for students who are: • Ready for college-level work • Motivated to take classes that apply toward high school graduation and a college degree • Seeking academic challenges not available at their high school

Sno-Isle Skills Centerhttp://www.snoisletech.com/ • Free, though some lab fees • Near Paine Field in Everett • Purpose: Prepare students to be successful in a high-tech workforce after graduation • Must have good attendance • for Fall enrollment – Apply online now! Late applications accepted. • Two Sessions: 7:55 am to 10:25am or 11:10am to 1:40pm • Transportation provided by Edmonds District

  16. College Degree Information • Associate Degree - 2 years (AAS, ATA) • Bachelor of Arts or Science - 4 years • Masters Degree - 3 -5 years beyond Bachelors Degree • Ph.D. - 5-7 years beyond Bachelors Degree

  17. College Testing Information • PLAN - November of Sophomore Year • PSAT – October of Junior Year - National Merit Scholarship • SAT/ACT - Spring of Junior Year - Fall of Senior Year • SAT II’s - Spring of Junior Year - Fall of Senior Year

  19. Preparation for College Admission • Minimum Admission for Washington State Four-Year Colleges/Universities • Fine, Visual, Performing Arts - 1 year • English - 4 yrs. • Foreign Language - 2 yrs. • Mathematics - 3 yrs+(12th grade) • Science – 2-3 yrs. • Social Studies - 3 yrs.

  20. College Admission Standards: Special things to know Not all colleges have the same admissions requirements. MATH WA State Coll. - minimum - 3 math credits (Alg. 1, Geom., Alg. 2) *** Senior year must take a math-based quantitative course (Pre-Calculus, Applied Quantitative Reasoning, Statistics, Chemistry, Physics or successful completion of math through Pre-Calculus) SCIENCE Science – 2 credits of laboratory science with one year of Biology, Chemistry or Physics (WWU requires Chemistry or Physics). Students interested in Engineering, need to take Physics! ART California colleges want the student to take one year of the same art class (Music, Drawing and painting, Clay 1 and 2, etc.).

  21. Now let’s talk about registration! • Write your name on the form 2. Check graduation status report for needs 3. Teachers will enter recommended courses for you on Skyward 4. When in doubt about a course, check the EWHS Curriculum Guide on our webpage 5. Turn in your registration form with requests/course codes! 6. Know YOUR skyward login, password (not your parents)

  25. Schedule Changes, Pass/No Pass, etc. • Choose courses carefully.Sections will be created and teachers assigned based on student requests on this form. Review your selections carefully now and do not request preference changes later. • Schedule changeswill be made for extreme academic purposes only.Honors /IB/AP Courses are a full-year commitment and the course(s) may NOT be dropped except under extreme circumstances. • Seniorsmay take up to two elective classes per semester for P/NC. A form must be submitted by the end of the 6th week of the semester.
