Stained Interior Finish Process Information • Pigmented Water–borne urethane • Finish applied prior to assembly Multi-step Process: • “White wood” sand • Wood conditioner applied • Stain applied • Clear coat applied • Sanded • Second Clear coat applied • After each coat of Clear applied, part is cured

Stained Interior Finish Conditioner What is it? • Clear stain base with slightly lower solid content than the stain What does it do? • Creates an even surface so the stain flows evenly • Allows the stain to absorb at a more even rate • Reduces blotchiness and color variation in stain color due to differences in wood • Aids in balancing colors between components and different types of wood • Follows Owner’s Manuals recommendations Not Conditioned Conditioned

Stained Interior Finish Technical Information Stained Interior Finish • Meets or exceed WDMA TM-14-09 • Test Methods for Factory Applied Clear and Pigmented Interior Prefinished Wood and Wood Cellulosic Composites Used for Millwork • Establishes acceptable level of performance with respect to film integrity and general appearance for factory applied clear and pigmented coatings for wood and cellulosic composite millwork.

Stained Interior Finish Technical Information WDMA TM-14-09 continued: • Coating shall be visibly free from blistering and other surface imperfections in the dry film state Test • Film adhesion • Dry adhesion 3B or better • Water soak (24 hrs @ 100°F – 24 hrs dry time) 2B or better • Boiling water (20 min @ 212°F – 24 hrs dry time) 2B or better

Stained Interior Finish Technical Information WDMA TM-14-09 test continued: • Chemical Resistance • Windex™, Vinegar, Isopropyl alcohol, 409 Cleaner™, dish detergent • No visible change in appearance or loss of film adhesion after 1 hour then 24 hours • Freeze Thaw Cycling • Minimum of 10 cycles • No visible change in appearance or loss of film adhesion • Impact • 20 inch pounds of direct impact with 0.5 inch dia. punch • Report any film removal greater than 0.125” in dia. from center of impact

Stained Interior Finish Technical Information WDMA TM-14-09 test continued: • Lead Content • Less than 0.02% by weight • Tested in accordance with ASTM E 1753 • There is No lead in this product • Exposure Testing • Accelerated Weathering Test • Minimum of 1000 hours in QUV weathering device • Coating shall maintain film integrity and have no adhesion, checking, cracking, peeling separation of coating layers, chalking, mildew, and changes in gloss

  18. Stained Interior Finish The appearance of clear coated and stained wood changes, often darkening, over time. Natural wood varies in color, texture and grain. These variations are not always concealed under the finish and may be enhanced during the finishing process.  Depicted sample combinations are for illustration and approximation purposes only. Contact your Marvin dealer for a sample in the species and interior finish of your choice. • Advisement

Stain Interior Finish Product Aesthetics • All products will be coated then assembled • The benefit to this process is that the coating is applied evenly to the wood parts, giving consistent coverage and protection • Joinery seams should be expected • Interior fasteners holes will be filled • Natural features and characteristics of the wood, including wood grain and natural color variation, will be present, radiating the warmth and character of the real wood • The appearance of wood changes over time, often darkening. This is not considered a defect

Stained Interior Finish Touch up/Repair • For Minor Dings and Scratches • Lightly sand with 220-400 grit sandpaper • Feather edges • Remove dust with tack cloth • Apply Stain • Allow to completely dry • Apply Clear Finish • Air dry 30-40 minutes or use hair dryer to accelerate • Use caution with heat source as to not blister the surface • Touch-up bottle of Stained and Clear Finish available • .60 fl oz Stain with applicator brush (part # varies by color) • .75 fl oz Clear with applicator brush (part # 11401918) • Touch-up instructions (part #19915408)

Stain Interior Finish Touch up/Repair • To remove dirt, dry wall dust and scuff marks • Begin with least aggressive procedure • Soft damp cloth with plain water – wipe clean- dry area • Soft damp cloth with plain water with 3 to 5 drops of detergent (such as Dawn Liquid) per pint of water – wipe clean- remove any detergent residue- dry area • Soft cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol – wipe clean- dry area • Soft cloth dampened with 409 cleaner -wipe clean- remove any cleaner residue- dry area **Do not use abrasive cleaners on any Stained Interior Finished surface**

  28. Stain Interior Finish Cleaning • Treat it like a piece of furniture • Furniture polish • Spray on to soft cloth, not directly onto window • Soft cloth dampened with water • Avoid using any cleaners that are abrasive or contain a colored dye

Stain Interior Finish Refinishing If there is ever a need or desire to re-finish the window or door the following procedure should be followed • Abrade surface to de-gloss with 220-320 grit sand paper • Remove dust with tack cloth • Apply a high quality finish per instructions • Only additional clear coats or painting should be done. Don’t try to re-stain.

Stain Interior Finish Warranty Five (5) Year Warranty • Free from finish defects: cracking, peeling, checking, delamination, blistering and flaking under normal interior environmental conditions • The appearance of wood changes over time, often darkening. This is not considered a defect and is not covered under warranty • The appearance of raised grain or other natural variation in the wood grain may be enhanced by the interior factory finish and is not a defect. • Features and characteristics of wood, including wood grain and natural wood color variation, will be present, reflecting the warmth and character of real wood. • Stain Interior Finish is applied prior to assembly and is not intended to cover joinery seams • Color variation is not considered a defect and will not be covered under warranty For the most current warranty information, contact your Marvin representative
