  1. Work through study guide • Start putting your portfolio together for next semester.

  2. Vocabulary- Define Each term- write legibly for credit • Prompt book – The Prompt Book is the master copy of the script or score, containing all the actor moves and technical cues, and is used by the deputy stage manager to run rehearsals and later, control the performance. • Level – tool used to confirm true horizontal and true vertical • Chalk or snap line - used to mark a long straight line, or to grid an area. • Color coding – Associating a specific group with a specific color. • Complimentary colors – Colors opposite of each other on the color wheel (orange/blue, yellow/violet) • Analogous colors – next to each other on the color wheel (green/blue-green, red/red-orange)

Primary colors – Red, Blue, Yellow – all other colors created by mixing these three • Secondary colors – Orange, Violet, Green – created by mixing two primaries • Tint – mixture of color with white • Shade – mixture of color with black • Hue – refers to the pure state of a color; it is the name we give a color such as red or blue. • Value – degree of lightness or darkness in a color. The relation of light and shade in a painting or drawing. • Carpenter/framing square - Used to confirm the accuracy of 90° angles at the joints of framed lumber.

Costume Designer • Designs the costumes for each character, • Builds and maintains the costumes, • Helps with quick changes • Stage Manager • Runs the show after it’s opened, • Calls the cues, • Solves any problems that arise during a show • Set Designer • Researches, designs, and builds the set, • Works with director to maintain the “vision”

  6. Sound Designer • Designs all sound cues/effects • Runs sound effects • Makes sure everyone is heard • Keeps the house sound balanced • Fixes issues with mics

Identify the FIVE different principles of design • Balance is the placement of elements to produce a sense of equilibrium in design composition. • Emphasis is the focal point, or center of interest. • Rhythm/Movement • Rhythm is the flow of lines, shapes, space and texture. • Movement in a composition guides a viewer’s eye through the work, usually to a FOCAL POINT. • Unity/Harmony • Harmony is the pleasing arrangement of all parts. • Unity is the quality of completeness a composition has. • Contrast is an abrupt, unexpected change in a visual element
