  2. Jogging fundamentals • See your doctor. It's always best to consult your physician before undertaking any fitness routine, particularly if you have not been exercising regularly. You should get the green light from you doctor before beginning.

  3. Jogging fundamentals • Clothes. Wear wicking fabrics to keep the sweat off your skin. Cotton is no good and will retain sweat and cool you down too quickly. This won't be comfortable for long.

  4. Jogging fundamentals • Sunscreen. Wear a hat to cover your head, face and ears. Sunscreen is important since repeated long exposure to UV rays damages your skin and leads to skin cancer.

  5. Have a ScheduleHaving a schedule is crucial for any beginner jogger. It should outline when you're going to jog, what your goals are, and what your rest days are. Write it out and stick it on your wall. Jogging fundamentals

  8. Jogging fundamentals • Hydration Keep a water bottle in your hand or around your waist. Drink a couple of ounces frequently. Your body needs to stay hydrated. If you're in the hot sun you'll want to drink more often. You'll be sweating lots and losing electrolytes. Be good to your body and replenish it frequently with cool sips of water.
