  1. Mason’s Happenings! September 12 Edition W A Note From Miss Mason: First off, I want to thank every parent that came to our Freedom Walk on Wednesday and Open House on Thursday. I personally enjoyed having the opportunity to interact with you. Thank you for your support. On another note, please let me know of any special upcoming events in your child’s life. I enjoy having the chance to meet my students outside of the classroom. I would love to attend football games, piano recitals, and other special events. Simply send a schedule in with your child and I will try to make an appearance. My goal is to try and be at one outside of school event for each of my students. I would appreciate any help you could offer for this goal. Our Learning: Math: We will continue working Unit 1 in our Common Core Math curriculum. In the next week, Miss Brookshire will be teaching about money, reviewing addition and subtraction, and soon moving on to multiplication within the tens. An addition/ subtraction incentive will soon begin where students will work to earn parts to a math party. Practice at home! Reading: Hopefully you saw the note that shared who your child’s reading teacher is this quarter. Don’t forget to sign and return your child’s read and respond each night (Monday-Thursday) Social Studies: We will begin an “America Is” project that we will eventually put together in a class book and video. We are excited to get started! Getting Along Together: We are learning how to create and maintain friendships. Student Interview: This week’s interview brought to you by Xavier! What do you like about third grade: “Um reading groups because I like paying attention.” What makes Morris Hill such a cool school: “I like having earned time.
