  3. Partner Share • Look at the illustrations on pages 118-125. • Think about how the passage of time helped Stormi to adjust to her new school. How is the passage of time often an important factor that helps people adjust to new things?

  4. Partner Share • Many of Stormi’s new classmates are engrossed in interesting activties. • How might being engrossed in something help a person adapt to a new place?

  5. Amazing Words • Surroundings- things and conditions around a person or place • He was in unfamiliar surroundings. • wanderlust- a strong desire to travel • Dave’s wanderlust allowed him to eventually travel around the world. • TEACH YOUR PARTNER THESE WORDS

  6. Vocabulary • Cavities-holes in teeth • I had no cavities at my dental exam. • Combination- set of numbers to open a lock • I forgot the combination for my locker. Teach your partner these words.

  7. Vocabulary • Demonstrates- shows • She demonstrates how to kick a soccer ball. • Episode- part of a series • We watched the final episode together. • Teach your partner these words.

  8. Vocabulary • Profile- public image • Her job was to improve the profile of the restaurant. • Strict- tough • His dad was really strict on his bed time. Teach your partner these words.

  9. Suffix ible, able Responsible or responsible Tolerible or tolerable Divisible or divisable Noticeable or noticible Hospitible or hospitable Allowible or allowable

  10. Indefinite and Reflexive Pronouns Indefinite pronouns must agree with the verb in number. Be sure that the suffix at the end of a reflexive pronoun agrees with the base word. Singular reflexive pronouns end with the singular suffix –self Plural reflexive pronouns end with -selves
