PILOT STUDY FOR THE CREATION OF AN ANAEROBIC POWER TEST BASED ON UCHIKOMI Paulo Henrique Silva Marques de Azevedo(1, 5) Mauro Cesar Gurgel de Alencar Carvalho (1, 2, 3, 7) Alexandre Janotta Drigo (1, 6) Vimar Baldissera (5) Homero da Silva Nahum Junior (1, 4) Gerson Gomes Cunha (7) Luiz Landau (7) Estélio Henrique Martin Dantas (3) (1) JUDÔjo – Grupo de estudos e pesquisas de Judô (2) Colégio Pedro II (RJ) (3) LABIMH – Universidade Castelo Branco (RJ) (4) Universidade Estácio de Sá (RJ) (5) Universidade Federal de São Carlos (6) FEF - UNICAMP (7) LAMCE – PEC – COPPE – Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro E-mail: paulao5@hotmail.com Introduction Since the 70’s motor tests has left the laboratories to start reaching the swimming pools, track and field facilities and Dojo, for example. So general motor tests has been substituted by specific motor tests in respect to the kinetic chain applied during the sports movements and needs. Objectives: This study aims to create an anaerobic power test based on ippon-seoi-nage Uchikomi for Judo: the 40s Uchikomi Test. Material and methods: The sample were comprised by 6 volunteer black belt adult male competitors, whose ages varied from 19 to 34 years, and 25,5 years in average. The used hardwares were: YS 1500, Polar watch and a chronometer SPSS 15, a CD with time beep sound recorded and BrOffice.org Writer. A 40 seconds running test was aplied on the first day where distance, heart rate (HR) and blood lactate (Lac) were maesured. Two days later the 40s Uchikomi Test was aplied to the same judokas and the number of Uchikomi, the HR and Lact were measured. Results and Discussion Exploratory analysis was made to check the behavior of the central tendency, variability and normality measures. All variables data, less resting lactate (run) for kurtosis, fell within the normality parameters and the Mauchly's test wasn't significant (p>0,05), so ANOVA for repeated measures could be applied. The data showed significant increases in Lac levels after the running and the Uchikomi stimuli raising from 2,04 and 1,68mMol/L to 10,65 and 8,65mMol/L, and so did the HR which was 79,3 and 82,67bpm during rest and raised to 176,17 and 174,83bpm respetively. Paired comparisons presented no significant differences between the resting HR before the run and Uchikomi, neither for resting Lac before run and Uchikomi, nor for HR after the run and Uchikomi, nor for Lac after run and Uchikomi. So, both 40s run and 40s Uchikomi are valid tests for anaerobic power measurement. Through bivariate correlation analysis, however only two significatly high correlations were found. Conclusions It may be concluded that if Uchi-komi is developed, in maximum speed during 40 seconds, significant increases in blood lactate levels due to anaerobic metabolism takes place as well as happened during a 40 seconds run test. So this kind of effort indicates that high speed performed Uchi-komi may be a valid test to determine anaerobic power for Judo. However more studies must be developed with higher number of subjects and with other Judo throws to completely assure its validity.
