  1. The PRESIDENT’S JOB: • Help plan the meeting agenda • Help manage the school store • Help lead the Student council • Enforce rules and policies

  2. THE VICE PRESIDENT’S JOB: • Help plan the meeting agenda • Help manage the school store • Assist the President and take over when they are not present • Lead the council in the Pledge of Allegiance • Be in charge of attendance and roll call

  3. THE TREASURER’S JOB: • Responsible for giving a monthly treasurer’s report that states our current balance • Keeps track of the money that the Student Council makes and spends • Helps manage the school store • Assists the council in planning the meeting agenda

  4. THE SECRETARY’S JOB: In charge of keeping track of the official minutes (when meetings start and ends) Writes down and keeps track of what happens during the meeting Helps manage the school store Assists the other officers in creating the meeting agenda

The Campaign • Each candidate that would like to run for an officer position will create one poster. • Poster should include: • Your name • Position you are running for • A few reasons why you would be a good candidate for that position • You will also write a speech explaining why you would make a good candidate.

  6. WHAT TO DO NOW ? ? • Decide whether Student Council is something you would like to do and whether you would make a good Student Council member. • Pick up a packet and poster paper from your teacher for the campaign if you want to run for an officer position. Only the permission form if you would like to be a classroom rep. • Read the information packet with your parent, then sign and return the bottom of the last page for your teacher to sign. • If you are running for an officer position create a poster and a SHORT speech to present to the 4th grade.

  7. IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER ! ! • Hang campaign posters outside of Mrs. Beckstrom’s room by Thursday September 28th. • Student Council Officer speeches will be held Friday, September 30th at 1:40 p.m. • The election will follow in your classroom immediately after the speeches. • Election Results, Monday October 3rd! • First Student Council meeting is on Tuesday, October 11th.
