  3. Introduction Why this launch ? • The trends in the last few years within home- and building automation made it • clear that a new hardware and software platform for our Master Generator (now • Smart-House Controller) was needed: • With the new Controller we are meeting the demand from the market for an easy-to-use • configuration tool, which generates professional system documentation automatically. • The systems are getting larger and larger, and in many cases one Master • Generator does not provide enough I/O-points, and thereby the users have been • forced to network them. This is a rather complex and unflexible exercise, however. • With the new Controller we are using cost-effective expansion modules instead, • and we are enabling the functions of the entire system to be programmed in just • one Controller. • The demand for new functions is growing continuously, and they are getting more • sophisticated. The structure of the Master Generator was no longer suitable to fulfil this • demand, there has been too much “patching”. With the new Smart-House Controller we • have developed a flexible and future-oriented platform enabling us to develop new • functions in a fast, reliable and cost-effective way. Jens Neigaard 10.04.2008

  4. Introduction Markets of interest Description Comments: Smart Buildings The main target is the home automation market, although the Controller can also be used in commercial buildings Jens Neigaard 10.04.2008

  5. Introduction Expectations • To strengthen our position within smart buildings by launching a brand new innovative Smart-House Controller, which is the brain of the Smart-House and too a high extend our face in the market towards the installers and system integrators • To achieve a much better position for projects demanding more than one Smart-House network, due to the cost-effective and easy implementation offered by the new controller • With the flexible hardware- and software platform of the new controller we expect to be able to meet future market demands for new functionality, in a fast and reliable way Jens Neigaard 10.04.2008

  6. The Product Relevant Technical Data • BH8-CTRLX-230 Smart-House Controller • Full-featured smart-house control functions for lighting, roller • blinds, alarms, temperature and occupancy simulation • User-friendly configuration via Windows XP / Vista software • Ethernet, USB port, SD-card and RS232 for configuration and • smart-house data read/write • Ability to manage up to 1024 I/O-points based on bus extension • modules type BH4-CTRLAB-230 • Option for external GSM Modem for monitoring and control • via SMS • Up to 450 mA Dupline current drive for supply of bus-powered units • AC/DC power supplied with built-in charger for battery backup • H8-housing for DIN-rail mounting Jens Neigaard 10.04.2008

  7. The Product Relevant Technical Data • BH4-CTRLAB-230 Smart-House Extension Bus Module • Provides a bus extension for the Controller BH8-CTRLX-230 • Up to 3 extension modules can be connected to one Controller • via plug-in flat cables • Built-in Channel Generator • Up to 450 mA Dupline current drive for supply of bus-powered units • 85-264 VAC Power Supply • H4-housing for DIN-rail mounting Jens Neigaard 10.04.2008

  8. The Product Relevant Technical Data – configuration tool • 3-step approach: • Define the rooms in the house with saying names • Select the products needed in each room from a list with product • categories and pictures, and assign names to the signals • Select the desired functions to be executed on the defined signals Jens Neigaard 10.04.2008

  9. The Product Features and Benefits • User-friendly configuration tool provides pre-defined smart-house functions and generates professional documentation incl. part and address coding lists SIMPLIFIED SET-UP • With It’s Ethernet, USB and RS232 ports, the Controller is very flexible for communicating with external devices COMMUNICATION CAPABILITIES • The lighting and temperature control functions based on presence of people can provide significant reductions in energy cost MINIMISING ENERGY COSTS Jens Neigaard 10.04.2008

  10. The Product Extra “Bonus Launch” • Philips Pronto TSU9200 Universal remote Control • This aesthetical looking universal remote is now compatible with • the Smart-House system through the IR Receivers BOW-IRXSTD8 • and BSJ-IRX8 • This means you now have the option to use the PHILIPS Pronto • TSU9200 as a remote for e.g. activating lighting scenarios or to • control blinds • In fact, you can replace all the remotes in your house with the • TSU9200, because it can easily be programmed to control also • TV's, DVD players, receivers, audio equpiment etc. • Furthermore, it is possible to create combined "home theatre" • functions where one press on e.g. a "watch TV" button can turn on • the TV, dim the lights and bring down the blinds • A ”getting started” manual to use the TSU9200 with Dupline as well • as the driver files needed can be found on the download section of • www.smart-house.nu Jens Neigaard 10.04.2008

  11. The Market Relevant applications Life in comfort in the Smart House The Smart-House concept changes the daily life of people to a higher comfort and security level. Light can switch on automatically when people enter a room, light scenarios with different dim levels helps to create certain moods like e.g. romantic lighting or dining lighting, outdoor lights only switch on when needed, one remote can control not only the smart-house installation, but also TV, radio etc., the alarm system creates a higher security level, seetings for room temperatures can easily by changed on room displays......... etc. Jens Neigaard 10.04.2008

  12. The Market Market Tools DATASHEETS The datasheets for BH8-CTRLX-230 and BH4-CTRLAB-230 are available in the Download area of the Carlo Gavazzi web site. Jens Neigaard 10.04.2008

  13. The Market Market Tools INSTRUCTION MANUAL The instruction manual is an integral part of the configuration tool, where context relevant help is always available by clicking on the “?” icon. However, it is also available as a pdf file Jens Neigaard 10.04.2008

  14. The Market Market Tools • FREE DOWNLOADS FROM WWW.SMART-HOUSE.IT • Smart-House Controller configuration software • Smart-House Controller instruction manual • User guide for Philips Pronto TSU9200 • Dupline driver files needed for Philips Pronto TSU9200 Jens Neigaard 10.04.2008

  15. Certifications - PG 010 According to EMC Directive 89/336/EEC: EN50081-1: Emission (Residential) EN61000-6-2: Immunity (Industrial) According to Low-voltage Directive 73/237/EEC EN60947-1: Low voltage switchgear and control gear Other Approvals Jens Neigaard 10.04.2008

  16. Conclusions • The new Configuration tool makes it easier to program a system, because it follows the thinking of an Installer in his approach to a project, and furthermore it provides professional documentation like part and coding lists • With the option to use bus extension modules we can now offer a much easier, more flexible and cost-effective solution to the growing demand for larger systems requiring more than one Smart-House bus • With the new Window-CE based platform and modular structure in the control functions we are in a much better position to respond to market demands for new functions • The Ethernet and USB ports brings us up-to-date with regard to the actual situation in today’s market, where COM-ports are getting rare, particularly on PC’s • The Philips Pronto TSU9200 can now be used for the smart-house system, adding further on to the attractiveness of the complete solution Jens Neigaard 10.04.2008
