The Political Spectrum LEFT WING RIGHT WING 100% government control 0% government control Conservatism Capitalism Liberalism Socialism Fascism Communism Anarchy Left requires less personal initiative, less personal responsibility, more dependence on others. Values, laws, and morals are evolutionary. Right requires more personal initiative, more personal responsibility, less dependence on others, moral restraint, religious people. Values, laws, and morals change little over time.

  2. Tax Rates vs. Revenue Collected The government seems to not realize that there is a point, low on the tax scale where revenue collected is maximized. The government should never attempt to be at the peak. Doing so will result in being over the peak, on the downward slope. This graph applies to individuals as well as collectively. As taxes are increased on the rich, the amount collected decreases. A high tax rate discourages the thing that is being taxed. If the government wants to discourage prosperity, then all it has to do is place a significant tax burden on those who are prosperous. If the government wants to maximize the amount of money available, it needs to have a low flat tax rate that is the same percentage for everyone. Social programs are to blame for the excessive taxation problem. This re-distribution of wealth discourages self-reliance and initiative, resulting in a lower level of overall prosperity.
