  3. WHY DO SOME NOT WANT ELDERS? • GOD HAS A PLAN: • Four types of organization: 1. Scripturally Organized (Phil. 1:1). 2. Scripturally Unorganized (Acts 14:23, Titus 1:5). 3. Unscripturally organized (Denom. org., Unqualified men). 4. Unscripturally Unorganized (Qualified men not appointed, Perm. business meeting).

  4. WHY DO SOME NOT WANT ELDERS? • BUSINESS MEETING BY DEFAULT: A. Ignorance (2 Pet. 3:16-17; Act 17:30). B. Neglect (Heb. 2:1-4). C. Apathy (Rev. 3:14-22).

  5. WHY DO SOME NOT WANT ELDERS? • PREFER THE BUSINESS MEETING: A. Unqualified men have their say. 1. No Qualifications (1 Tim. 3, Titus 1). 2. Spirit of Diotrephes (3 Jn 9f). B. Preacher fears loss of his influence (1 Cor. 1:11f; 4:6).

  7. WHY DO SOME NOT WANT ELDERS? • SOME FEEL NONE CAN QUALIFY: A. Does Bible Req. Near Perfection? 1. There were elders (Acts 14:23; 11:30; 20:28; 1 Tim. 3; Titus 1). 2. Which qualification cannot be met? Where say ended? 3. These are minimal requirements. 4. Peter (1 Pet. 5:1; Matt. 16:21-23; Matt. 26:31-35; Gal. 2:11f).

  8. WHY DO SOME NOT WANT ELDERS? CONCLUSION: • God Has A Plan For Local Organization. • To Neglect / Prefer Otherwise Is Disobedience. Do We Have Faith In God’s Organization & Wisdom?
