  2. Žilina region • The Žilina Region is one of the eight Slovak administrative regions. • It is located in northern Slovakia and has an area of 6,804 km². Populationisabout688,851.

  3. Žilina region is one of the most beautiful parts of Slovakia. There are 1584 culturalsightslikecastles and churches. The Strečno Castle is a Gothic castle in northern Slovakia. It was probably built in 1316 and reconstructed in 1689. One of the most famous castles is called „Hrádok“ or „New Castle“. It was buil in 1314. In 1994 there was filmed Dragonhearth.
